Back about '57 my Dad told my sister, who was listening to CKLW, to "turn that crap off!" She just went to her room to listen to it. What do you expect from a guy who once played for Lawrence Welk.

Re: Anyone here from Missouri?

Spent some time in St Louis in the later part of the 60's. Had a girlfriend that lived there. The Zoo is planned out for ease of walking around. The Bud brewery is a nice diversion and Forest Park where the 1903 Worlds Fair was made famous by the movie Meet Me in St Louis. One thing I noticed back t...

I heard the reason is the jet stream is stuck just below us in an East to West run not letting the warm air move in. It could be what is saving us from all the really nasty storms that are sliding South of us.

Remember reading a story about a battle in the Civil War where a soldier was shot through the 'naughty bits' and the rifle ball lodged in a young girls abdomen. Nine months later ...... you guessed it! The story said that the two married and had more children.

Re: Attorney General, JaBarr The Hut

Any memory of the Iran-Cantra investigation would for tell how Barr would behave. He was AGAINST any investigation and ALL FOR pardons so many of the questions could never be fully answered. One comment that always stuck in my mind was a question to the Independent Council Judge Walsh. Which investi...

Re: If you can't win, just change the rules!

A better apportionment of the Electoral votes might be per votes. The current system gives States a min.of 3 one each for Senator and Rep. In Wyoming that works out to 1 vote for about every 500k people. If you used the same ratio of E. vote per 500k then just LA County in Cal. would have 270 E.vote...

Re: 20 Most Stressful Events For Millenials

Looking at the list in the original start of the thread, I noticed 7 items that were not even a thing when I was that age. So of course my stress wasn't anything techie but maybe it was the idea of getting my butt shipped overseas to fight for my Government. I remember my wife helping with homework ...

Re: US behind Chna in global leadership

If you look at the import/export top 10, the US's biggest export (4 of the top 7) are for recycling. Our major export is basically trash while the imports are all the goods we need. If your biggest exports is waste paper and plastic I don't think your destined for being #1. https://www.visualcapital...

Here's a thought... Blame Term limits! for the lack of fixing the problems.
It's so easy to kick the can down the road since the folks in Lansing don't have to run on their record beyond a couple go=rounds.

Re: Daylight Savings Time, Keep it or get rid of it...

Some years ago there was a story on NPR about savings time. The story stated that the only area that showed any up tick was Mall traffic. Nothing else that could be verified as a + due to having the sun go down later.

Re: Gretcholm wants to raise fuel taxes by 45 cents/gallon by 2020

Interesting so far no comment on 'load limits' of trucks in the State. Ever notice the trucks with the big coils of steel? If the trailer has 1 coil it is leaving the State. If it has 2 it is not. Big difference in overall weight here. I once had a trucker explain that all the extra axles made the l...

two words "Overton Window" this is how the party's do business.

All these years we shout less taxes as the price to do work goes up, then how do you pay for 40 years of neglect.

Re: I hope you all can find new jobs soon

I like to listen to company heads that talk about how bad a union would be to all concerned. What they are forgetting is that the employee won't go for a union UNLESS they feel they need one to get a fair shake.
In a way they brought it all on themselves.
