Re: ABC12 News Director calls it quits
Mahon is seen as a Denise stooge. They needed to promote Pat Wilson… who was the Assistant News Director until Denise drove him out and he reunited as Jayne Hodak’s #2 at WNEM. Pat knew the market, the people. People liked and respected him. GM Brock refused to get rid of Denise before permanent dam...

Re: From Iowa to Lansing
WNEM News Director Jayne Hodak used to have a “rule” that she wouldn’t talk with talent agents. She would only negotiate directly with the prospective employee. Agents like Mort Meisner would then steer their clients away from Jayne to stations like WEYI, WSMH. Not sure if Jayne still has the same r...

Byron Allen bidding for Washington Commanders
Byron Allen has driven ABC 12 into the ground. He won’t pay people what they’re worth. We’re not rehiring key positions. So how does Byron spend the piles of cash he’s sitting on right now? Increasing pay for his current workers? Nope. Adding new staff to help ease the workload? Nope. Buy a troubled...

Paul, congratulations! You are now qualified to work at ABC 12. The less you know, the more qualified you are.

Re: Cheri Hardmon’s public records
It is clearly Cheri’s responsibility.
But might her struggles make her more relatable and understanding of her constituents who also struggle with paying rent and health insurance? It’ll be interesting to see whether voters hold these issues against her.

Re: Emmy award winning director departs 25-66
It’s a public business. I think people should be a little kinder to each other, but the Buzzboard is no different than the criticism I’ve seen leveled at teachers and administrators at my local school board meeting. If you’ve ever been in a newsroom, we get a ton of phone calls, emails, and social m...

Ahmad was good too… before he got snatched up by Detroit. But I agree… Easlick is the best in the market.

Re: Culture starts at the top
Gray Television— which used to own ABC 12 — now owns WNEM. They are the best corporate owners in town currently. They don’t have the baggage that Sinclair has — Gray’s not cheap and better organized than Byron Allen Media. We miss Gray, but we were glad when they took Pete Veto with them.

Re: Emmy award winning director departs 25-66
Ha! Stink just wants to argue to prove his/her point about how bad WEYI, WSMH, CW 46 is. He’s right. I just don’t agree the way he makes the point over and over again. But it’s hard to argue about the dumpster fire that station has become in recent years. Unfortunately so have the other stations. Fa...

That’s right, Noozd. Knight Ridder was a little before my time. I heard ok things about them. So they might place somewhere in the middle? How would you rank ‘em?

Allen Media = one of WJRT’s worst owners…
WJRT Owners — best to worst:
1. ABC/Disney
2, Gray Televison
3. Capital Cities
4. Byron Allen
5. SJL/Lilly
