Re: WJR, boring programming

From Metro Times in June: | “No one wants to listen to boring ass old boomer f***s complain about everything that scares them. Save some money and broadcast a live stream from a nursing home rec room.” I'm surprised more hospice care facilities and funeral homes don't advertise on WJR. It's their de...

Re: Audacy files Chapter 11

WWJ is among the top billing AM stations in the country. Inside Radio says 2022 revenue was 13.6 million dollars. The local Audacy stations collectively generate $55 million to $60 million of annual revenue. 97.1, 99.5, 104.3 and 950 are all strong billers. Audacy owns 3 of the top 5 billing FM stat...

Re: Mixed Feelings About WJR since their Lineup Change

Never listened to WJR that much. It has given me a few chuckles, though, when I did tune in over the years. The Appliance Doctor, telling senior citizens how to remove the sheet metal rear panel from the back of a dryer to remove and re-install a heating element. And the midday host who would play a...

Sirius/XM audio quality

I thought there would be some breakthrough in technology by now that would improve the audio quality on satellite radio. It has always sounded so hollow to me. Howard 100/101 does sound a little better than other channels. Is it possible they are giving them a bit more bandwidth?

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR

Does he still do an appliance show? I thought appliances were a little too complex these days for people to diagnose and repair without special equipment and knowledge. I did enjoy listening years ago when he would tell 80 year old ladies "remove the rear panel from the washer, and unbolt the motor....

Re: WWJ 950

I think traffic reporters started calling highways by their official names to break up the monotony of saying a bunch of numbers jammed together for 60 seconds. But real people don't use those names. Imagine telling someone from out of town "take the Reuther to the Chrysler Freeway" etc. It would be...
