Re: Detroit Traffic Reporters

Yes they make six figures! Here are the salary ranges for Detroit TV people. General Assignment Reporters: 85K-100K to start. those who have been at the station a few years or started a few years ago before salary drops, are well above 100. Weekend Anchors: 115K and up. Weekday Morning/secondary ev...

Does anyone listen to WJR?

WWJ morning drive now doubles their ratings and is crushing them in the demos.

Re: Celebrating WXYZ anchor Dave LewAllen after 35 years at Channel 7

Duffy is a bit stiff, but is the only one with a refreshing look and some authenticity.
Newsroom popularity should have nothing to do with it. They need someone who pops. He is the closest thing to it, outside of bringing in someone new.

Re: WWJ 950

There is a Clinton near Adrian. Specifying Township in that case is the way to go, same with Oakland and Macomb Townships. The word Road is only necessary if it is also the name of a city. Rochester, Trenton and Southfield come to mind (I know Southfield is a slightly different case with a freeway ...

Re: WWJ 950

Some insight:

Yes, the writing is often an issue, and the anchors have to copy edit in real time.

Also, its unrealistic to expect the anchors to know the street names in every town and city.

Finally, Accuweather is based in Pennsylvania, so the mets arent in Michigan nor do they live here.

Re: Grant Hermes Leaving Loco 4 for Boston

What the fuck does that even mean? As opposed to a “right wing nut”? I cant tell the leanings of any local news folks if I tried. They are reading standard copy written by 22 year old producers and going home. What makes him seem liberal? These “bias” arguments are so stupid and an insult to the har...

Re: Grant Hermes Leaving Loco 4 for Boston

Weekend morning anchor is the lowest anchor spot on a station. Not that big a gig. Reporter in a top 10 is bigger. WHDH is a powerhouse. He may want city and station over anchoring.

Re: Coverage of the MSU campus shooting

Good article. Although towards the end, the writer just seemed to repeat their PR bullshit. The GM is also full of shit. They didnt “get better” on tuesday. The top of the 5 and 6 was riddled with errors. He is “proud” of what they put out? And as for the mistakes.. I dont care how new they are. The...

Re: Coverage of the MSU campus shooting

Oh. My. God. CBS62 at 5pm was a train wreck. Both beginning live shots/lead stories weren’t ready and didnt play. They tossed to dead air. No communication with the poor anchors who must have been thinking “what the hell did I get into.” Its like they have no one who has ever produced a newscast. Th...

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

The working newsroom is the concept that CBS wants. This is why it’s not wise to compare what they are doing to what other stations are doing. WWJ has a unique, yet effective formula. “Unique, yet effective formula”????? What are you smoking? The product is a disaster. Everyone at the other station...

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

OMG.. Do I have to spell it out to you all again. THEY ARE NOT PAYING FOR TALENT. Veteran reporters and anchors cost money. They are bringing in reporters who must shoot and edit, and work for 70-90K. The names you mentioned are all 200K a year and up talent. Except for Frank Turner who was in Flint...
