Re: Real Oldies Music Radio

Thanks for the correction Gary Hunt. I can't believe I got the times wrong. Thanks for setting me straight! I'm glad it's not a one time thing. Sorry I left your show out of the post.

Real Oldies Music Radio

They are adding on air personalities, Mark Roberts (aka Johnny Walker on WGRD 1971). His show will air Monday and Tuesday 9AM to Noon. Not sure if it's a one time thing. Bob Mason still has his countdown show. Jim Hampton (WXYZ AM 1960's) and Bob Becker. Over 10 thousand songs in the rotation. https...

Re: Another victim of Clownsquare budget cuts...

Why does anyone work in Radio anymore??? And who listens to terrestrial radio.... SiriusXM has no commercials..... For my genre of music, SiriusXM is a notch barely above terrestrial radio. They cleverly divided my rock and roll into decades. Then they picked a few songs from each decade and play t...

Re: One Year Since Real Oldies Went Dark

"Real Oldles Music Radio" is shining brighter. It's great hearing minimal repeats. With over 10,000 songs in their library! I love the "Bob Mason Countdown Show" on Sunday afternoons. Anybody here collect music surveys? My minimal collection goes back only to 1965.

Re: Ludington was briefly an Eastlan market!

In the 1960's whenever we went to a Lake Michigan beach we listened to WOKY 920. They put a great signal between Ludington and Holland. Walking along the beach we'd hear WOKY on most radios.

Re: GR Radio in 1967

do you remember when KLIK was on 950? And was owned by R. Dana McVay, who owned WKNX 1210 Saginaw and WTPS 1560 Portage? WWJ used to sign off from 1 AM to 5 AM on Monday mornings, and they had some kind of agreement that KLIK could go 5000 watts nondirectional during the experimental period while W...

Re: GR Radio in 1967

Is the GO Magazine the first issue? That's on ARSA, I believe That was the first issue for WTAC, per the article on page 7. It has the Young Rascals on the front page. Paul Revere The Raiders on the back. Also, thanks for all the places to research on the web. WTAC was called "weetac" and WTRX was ...

Re: GR Radio in 1967

Tom Roberts, real name Thomas Lawcock, was at a number of Flint and Phoenix stations. Seems like Pete Cavanugh had two different people named Tom Roberts at WTAC. Not sure which Tom Roberts was at WLAV, one of those two or a third. Jackson Ross and John Landecker (as Dow Jones) were also both at WT...

Re: GR Radio in 1967

I've got some air checks of some of these guys from the 1965-69 range, but wish I had more. Also still have all of the music lists from WERX, WGRD, WLAV and WMAX. Fun things to pull out and look at from time to time. Definitely some fun times in Grand Rapids radio. I have plenty of WLAV, WERX, WGRD...

GR Radio in 1967

My first post on the board! I was 14 years old in 1967. I lived in Grandville. We rode our bikes to WERX, which was on 52nd street and chatted with the deejays. I remember chatting with John Landecker. 52nd street was a gravel road back then.I have a modest music guide collection 1965 to 1983. I'd p...
