Re: NBC 24 Ending News Operations

In Toledo, my guess is the Big Ten. Lions obviously have their share of fans in the market, or some of it anyway, but this is also ground zero for OSU-Michigan. Those fan bases combined across the DMA have to dwarf that of the Lions.

Re: WNWO to eliminate newscasts

@toledoradiodied Maybe on a subchannel? NBC can't be all that pleased at this development and I'm assuming they're aware. Then again, WNWO has been pretty bad ever since I was in college there in the late 90s. If there was ever any bad blood at NBC re the affiliate swap in the 90s, and I'm not sayin...

Re: WOWO Returns to 92.3

Definitely ought to help with some of 1190's issues to the west after dark, plus the inherent audio advantages FM holds over AM. Not sure if they have many coverage deficiencies to the east within the market, given the null toward New York. 1190 still blasts into Mercer and most of Auglaize County a...

Sounds about right for a company as financially illiterate as iHeart.

Re: T-Town radio predictions 2023

Strong Tower Radio purchase's the 103.3 Translator from Fusion. Don't know how I came up with this but I'll throw it in the mix. The only thing crazier would be WMTR buying the 103.3 translator, leasing an HD subchannel, and running a simulcast of 96.1 (including the Tigers) on it (both the leased ...

Re: Amherstburg's NEW Radio Station ~ Coming Spring 2023

Good for them. Always like seeing positive news for local radio.
50 watts at less than 200 feet probably won't go far, maybe barely across the border, but it ought to cover their local area well.

Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo

I believe that's correct WOHO. I remember her as a producer for Scott Sloan, possibly among others, before and maybe even while she worked the midday slot on IOT. I would occasionally see some of those folks out and about around town, including at UT football games. The WSPD/Jacor/CC folks were alwa...

Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo

I'm trying to remember who was on IOT middays in the late 90s. I know Micki Morgret took over that 10-3 slot around 1999 or so, but I can't remember who preceded her. Don Davis was in afternoons the entire time I lived up there.

Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo

Colonel Flagg, the thing I really loved about WIOT when I was a UT student in the late 90s was that it was a one stop shop for rock. I always thought it leaned more classic than new, but not by much. I didn't have to try four stations, as I would here in Columbus then and likely now, to get the rock...

Re: Old Cable TV Line ups(New thread)

Anyone remember Nostalgia Channel and Movietime? I remember both, but our family never had the cable tier that carried them. I grew up in suburban Columbus, Ohio, so far out of reach of most/all of the stations in this thread. I was surprised looking through to see Toledo stations carried on cable ...

Re: RIP WRVF-HD3 The Breeze

I own an HD radio, but just one. I don't consider it a bad deal, but the tradeoff is no AM. The tradeoff to that is in my part of Columbus, WTVN's signal is total butt at night so it comes in loud and clear at all hours on 93.3 HD2. Not that I listen to them a ton anymore.

Re: X94.5 VS WIOT in Toledo in the early 1990s.

Yes! I remember both liners very well. And you aren't kidding about the format ... Toledo has never been underserved by classic rock as long as I've paid attention. Even on a radio with a basic antenna, 94.5 blasted onto campus (yet, because of the directional signal, it was vastly inferior to 104.7...

Re: X94.5 VS WIOT in Toledo in the early 1990s.

Wikipedia says 1990, but that's not always 100% reliable. I wasn't aware it was further out, but I didn't move to Toledo for school until 1996. I missed those 94.5/104.7 battles by less than a year, but I vividly remember 94.5 quickly and predictably crushing 97.3 once the classic rock format return...

Re: NFL Football on Toledo radio

Agree WOHO. Columbus has a similar issue to Toledo, largely because iHeart basically has stopped caring about sports. The Guardians are cleared on a low-power Christian FM. Reds night and weekend games air on one of iHeart's FMs that otherwise is throwback R and B, so not quite a good fit in the for...
