Re: What’s This?
I heard it last night. Some kind of Classic Rock or Classic Hits. Neither the signal nor the processing and modulation levels seemed quite ready for prime time. I assume that repairs and tweaking processor settings are underway to correct this.

Tivoli Audio Henry Kloss Model One Demonstration
Apparently, this was done near Grand Rapids. WMUK 102.1 and WSCR 670, WGN 720, and WBBM 780 are the few identified from outside the immediate 49500 area. Can't figure out where the strong oscillation near WGVU 1480 on "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" is coming from. I'd say it was from a nearby radio, b...

Re: Practical FM Antenna Seminar
I built a simple interferometer with two Antennacraft/Archer FM-10s I had at one time. I used an old Rembrandt Antenna Switch, without the rabbit ears connected, which introduces phase shifts and atennuation to one antenna, since it was handy, and I didn't have a fancy phasor. I could get cochannels...

Practical FM Antenna Seminar
Didn't know they had seminars for FM DXers. This one has information on simple FM Antennas. The man in the video is a retired automotive engineer from Michigan. He also has a First Phone and worked at various FM stations in the past. He kind of glosses over how good Yagis, even with Armstrong Rotors...

Re: WOAP Format Change
Townsquare, sadly, seems to not give two rips about WQUS. That station has also endured severe interference in NE Oakland County and NW Macomb County from the Family Life Radio translator in Rochester. Places where WQUS previously came in quite well, such as Romeo, Clarkston, Oxford and Lake Orion,...

Re: Former WNEM 5 anchor dies
Many people who are born, raised, went to school or worked in Radio and TV in Flint or the Flint Saginaw Bay City TV Market deny it, and in other careers also, delete all references to it in their Curriculum Vitae, online CVs like LinkedIn, Wikipedia articles, even some in 440 Satisfaction. This may...

Re: WOAP Format Change
Townsquare should have filed an interference complaint. Interference within 45 dBu of WQUS 103.1. Captures WQUS 103.1 on I-75. https://www.fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=14224&appid=8f372ae3c9564a7eadbec1b6063ebeb7&i=2 https://www.fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=140015&appid=b1544ca8092c464fa557c1b6063ebeb7&...

Maybe the timeline is off. That's quite a vivid imagination you have. Remind me to make sure you don't do my eulogy when the time comes

I'll just leave this here: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/212565/woap-opens-a-portal-to-rock-alternative-chr-hybrid/ I chuckle when I think about how WOAP's original ham & egger owners would react to this. :rollin Merrill Walker, and Art Kinsey were pure sitcom gold. If I could hear them just d...

Re: Jim Harper on WJR
Yeah. The Colonel used to ride his bicycle past Doug Podell's house when he was a kid, hoping he'd see him out and about. OK, I admit it. I once looked over from the Lowe's Parking lot into Trish's Studio Parking lot to see if Jim Harper had a big fancy sports car parked there one Saturday afternoon...

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license
It would have been a shame if the license had gone to auction. I'm not so sure I agree. 1) How long will radio still be around? 2) How many years would the 101.9 frequency be off the air if they yanked the licensed, auctioned it off years later, and further haggling over who won the auction, whethe...

Re: Good news for U-M football fans who listen on the radio
WOOD 1300 comes in best during Critical Hours there. The WOOD ground wave is far below M-3 prediction. See the WCCW 50 kW Day application and CP from 10+ years ago for those details. WWJ fades a lot in Central Michigan. WSGW has been reported on Lake Shore Drive East of tall buildings in Chicago in ...

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license
A smart move to drop the matter with a settlement. The Class C1 facility is the second best in the whole market Traverse City Region, and the strongest commercial signal in Traverse City. It would have been a shame if the license had gone to auction. But please, get this back up to full power ASAP.

Re: Turntable Question
Thanks. A bigger concern is the tracking weight of a ceramic, if you are going to play valuable vinyl and many times, not just to make MP3 like files. I wouldn't want to play it even once with a ceramic cartridge if it's a valuable near mint LP.

Re: Toledo Station For Sale
CKAC 730 is a 50000 watt Class A and has to be protected at Night by WJYM 730. So that may be another factor, not just the vacant CHYR7 on 730. Its in the same general direction. CHYR7 protected CKAC also. It was equivalent to about 47 watts inverse directional power, about the same as WVFN at Night...
