Re: 950, WWJ, still in HD?
WFDF (6740) and WWJ (6653) both have Major 50 kW Day Lobes which reach quite well to near West Branch in analog along I-75. The HD signals are detectable near Pinconning, about 30 miles South, near I-75. I think that is impressive, even though I have many reservations about IBOC, especially on AM. R...

Re: Banning Non-Competes
Radio was much more fun before noncompetes. I miss the days when there were there were live DJs and two or more stations in the same market with the same format, owned by different companies. I also miss the days when a DJ could leave one station and show up the next day on another station, and even...

That's Just A Rumor...
Back in around 1970, the Cable company where I lived charged $5.00 a month for 12 channels, all VHF and converted from UHF to VHF. The signals were marginal, and the signals to the TV were not as strong as stronger signals received on an antenna. The Cable Company was paranoid about people putting s...

Re: non commercial fm radio in G.R.
Keep in mind that WCSG 91.3 has been #1 or close to the top in the GR Ratings. In general, noncommercials, and don't forget WGVU (AM), and oddly cobbled together commercials like Franken FM WRME-LP in Chicago, have been responding to long underserved older demographics, whereas Cumulus Storm Cloud, ...

And the Earth isn't spherical either. At first approximation it is an ellipsoid, but a highly irregular one.
Will any of these plot out F(50,50) and F(50,10) contours for reference and comparison? I guess Nautel also has a site that is something like this.

Re: Mark Pennington joins The Bear for mornings
Because of the calamity of the last fifteen months, many personalities are operating from home studios, as well as voice tracking. I suspect that Jim Harper does for WLXT, and Anne Carlini for WGFM/WGFE. This trend will most likely continue. Del Reynolds and Brian Brachel have been bringing the home...

Re: Mark Pennington joins The Bear for mornings
My prediction is that Black Diamond will hire the most popular and talented people who were discarded by Big Corporate Owners in Detroit, and use them to build statewide networks of same format stations that they acquire and LMA. When they have a big enough network, they will be able to deliver comp...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike
There appears to be two antennas, one with 6 Bays near the top, and another 2 Bays further down the tower. WOOD-TV has its Muskegon area repeater on that tower, I believe. WOMS-CD also broadcasts from that same tower. People in Allegan, Wayland and Clarksville say they can hear the station well, so...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike
Well, there doesn't appear to be too much room in that little transmitter shack, but maybe there's another portion of the building. I do see two transmission lines. As they leave the building, one appears to have a smaller diameter, but the two going up the tower appears to be the same size. The AUX...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike
Are there any details as to how they got it back on the air? I guess they could have transported a temporary transmitter in, and fixed any damage to the electrical supply and transmission line. Any idea what the TPO and ERP are?
