Martin spent like 5 minutes on air trying to explain Ron’s absence. It was 4 minutes too long. Brutal radio. He would have been better to just read out of the paper a la Ron Cameron style.

Not sure if it’s cheaper. Although they sure like to brag about their whopping 2500 watts of power!

I’m surprised stations like WDTK and WCXI don’t get rated. I feel that a lot of the “masses” would like what is talked about on their. One station I like to listen to from time to time is the new BIN 1130. Gives a good prospective and hits on some good stories.

If you find a station down the middle, please let me know. I’m constantly flipped amongst 2-3 channels just to figure out a story.

So why might Ron be moving stations to 680/690? Was this explained?

I caught a bit of Friday’s show. At the top of the noon hour when Martin was giving the station ID, he referred to Ron as “Ron Cammon”. I also enjoyed the ad read that he said “formerly-runned” instead of “family runned”. After I heard some paper shuffling, I had to get back to work. Riveting radio!

I wonder if anyone will swoop in and take these lucrative radio spots.

I hope Ron is ok and just needs some rest. You know, WPON could have just ran repeats of his show and no one would probably notice. Too bad WPON doesn’t have a cassette tape recorder to keep all the archival footage.

I see I missed a lot of great quality radio today.

There is no reason for WJR to gear towards more news. Their format right now works for their ratings. They seem to want to get more sports action on their station, but they always seem to be outbid.

Last Detroit radio ratings had WYCD as #11 in the market. Why three other stations thought that county would be a ratings winner does baffle me. You would of got more ratings simulcasting some of these AM stations like WWWJ or WJR on FM.

There is no structure to the show besides hour 1 call in and hour 2 interview. Throw out some questions to provoke some debate. Instead, we get the regulars who ask him if he was in the press box during a midweek Tigers-Royals series in ‘73. The guy has knowledge and opinion, I can see that. The sho...
