Re: Trump's speech does not rise to the level of incitement

The number of ex-military folks who were part of the plot at the Capitol saddens me. It suggests to me our country isn't doing enough to provide psychiatric help to those who suffer from PTSD and other mental health issues arising from combat service. Psychiatric, medical, and on and on. Stray/abus...

Re: Trump impeached again

I think you are correct. There is some ambiguity there, which is why I would expect the SCOTUS to ultimately get involved. Would he be precluded due to impeachment and/or the 14th? From a purely procedural standpoint, I'm fascinated by it all. It's history for all the wrong reasons, but history just...

Re: Trump impeached again

If convicted, which right now looks unlikely due to the political breakdown of the Senate, there would be a number of tools in toolbox to preclude him from holding office (my use of the word of prohibit was incorrect). Among those would be the 14th Amendment. If there is a conviction, I would fully ...

Re: Trump impeached again

If it's "NOT just about Trump," then who is it about? It's about Biden. It's about the 47th President. It's about the 48th President. It's about us as country sending the message that the kind of behavior we've seen in the White House is unacceptable. That we demand better. This is how our country ...

Re: Trump impeached again

Makes 100% sense. There should be consequences for misbehavior that occurred in office, even if you've since left that office - no matter your political party. In this case, if convicted by the Senate, Trump would become the first US President to have such an honor. It 100% matters in the long view ...

Re: You Be The Judge

Not being familiar with Canadian laws at all, three questions: - Could/would the crown take away her nursing license if convicted? - Can the crown suspend her nursing license while she awaits trial? - Would the suspension and/or termination of her nursing license be grounds for the employer to termi...

Re: Will WJR Soon Drop Talk For All News?

Best way to make an all-newser work would be with a partnership with either Ch 4 or 7 to save costs and increase listener / viewer familiarity. I didn't mention Ch 2, 50, or 62 as they already have ties to WWJ. There's been talk for years that people at both WJR and WWJ hate how similar their calls ...

Wow - how awful would it be to be the union rep and have to defend her.

See ya!

Re: Burger King old logo

Hard to believe that Burger Chef was second only to McDonald's in the 70s. They had some good things going for them like the works bar and their mushroom and Swiss burger but couldn't compete with McDonald's capital. Selling out to the holding company that owned Hardee's was the end of that. I remem...

It took 70 days for something Presidential to happen

If tonight's 5 minute video from Trump helps keep things calm in the coming days, then he gets a tiny sliver of respect from me. That video should have happened on November 4, not January 13. Most of that should have been a live statement last Wednesday evening. Even so, it was still inadequate in n...

Unless Trump opts not to put on a defense. I sure wouldn't want Mr. Combat Giuliani representing me.

Re: Trump impeached again

It'll be interesting to see how close they can get to conviction in the Senate. Getting to 60 yes votes should be doable. Getting those last 7 votes could be tough. I could see it ending 66-34, one vote short on purpose. A lot of it will probably come down to Trump's behavior between now and Biden's...

Re: Michigan basketball looking damn good

The thing is, all Valenti really cares about in his on-air persona is getting attention. Doesn't really matter to him if he's wrong or right on his sports takes. He's the king of bad takes, and it doesn't really matter other than better ratings for 97.1 I give him credit for making a stand -- there'...
