Re: WTKA AM 1050 question

That's a marathon....16 hours a day, 6 am to 10 pm. So you'd think they would have time for your call!

Re: WJR Local News

Lloyd Jackson? I wonder if that's the same Lloyd Jackson who did news for a short time at WSNX/Muskegon/GR. He was terrible then.

Re: lack of radio posts

How many stations were playing Al Jolson or Bing Crosby in 1980? Actually, the Music of Your Life format took off at about that time. I worked at one in Florida in 1984. It fizzled out shortly after that time. So, hang in there --- the burnt to a crisp classic rock may be reaching its crumbling poi...

Re: lack of radio posts

In what used to be PREMIER radio market, a no-talent hack such as Jade Springhart now handles middays at WRIF. Abrasive voice with zero inflection when she speaks. She just "drones" when she talks. Dry, boring content, too. Instead of on-air capability being the most important consideration when ma...

I would imagine that they would skew it towards women, as Trish has always dominated women.

Re: WWMT-TV, CW7 go live with new transmitter, improved broadcast signal

This is great news. I can't wait to rescan tonight to see for meself. Thanks for posting this news! CBS is my main OTA network. I've been thinking of subscribing to CBS online for this, because of the iffy signal and dropouts, even with the antenna pointing to their tower. Update (8/11): So I scanne...

Re: Nielsen #'s for Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Muskegon

I don't think that's an "all-time low" for 107.3. It likely had next-to-nothing numbers prior to its transition to WODJ, when it was a sleepy Greenville country station.
Many years ago (1980s and '90s), WLHT/Lite 95.7 had very good numbers in Muskegon. So did WOOD-FM and WLAV.

Re: Banning Non-Competes

There may be a common ground here, to restrict noncompete agreements and to define which ones the court would throw out in a lawsuit. Maybe a severance package at 100% salary in the same timeframe which the noncompete agreement was in force. I seem to remember a company discussed here that said you...

So, basically.....no one knows what the F they are doing. No wonder radio broadcasting is a nearly dead industry. Sad.

It was fun in the '80s.

Re: West Michigan Radio Websites are miserably short of content.

No one answered me the first time I asked this, so I will ask again. What is the monetary gain for a radio station website? Those crappy Google ads don't pay much, and the views are going to be hard to come by to make it worth much. Local advertising? Again, the views are just not there. As for soci...

Re: Vaccinated? Toss your mask.

Well, since our posts the state has issued somewhat confusing mask/no mask orders. Some stores and indoor places still require them, some do not. So keep a mask or two handy, as you are still going to need it some of the time, vaccinated or not.

Re: Vaccinated? Toss your mask.

Reese, You are spreading misinformation. The CDC's recommendation is just that, a recommendation. The state health department is making the health laws, and they have not said anything as of this moment. Yes, the recommendation is for fully vaccinated people only. For unvaccinated people: You must w...

Re: We live in fame or go down in flame................

I was in radio in the '80s (great times) to the mid '90s (beginning of the end). What I don't understand is the benefit of radio driving its audience to the website. Sure, there's ads on the website, but is that the bigger revenue-maker of the two? I rarely go to a radio station's website, but I do ...

Re: Bill Vogel

Is the obituary correct, or have I been assuming incorrect info on Bill for many years? I thought Haley Vogel of TV weather fame was his daughter. I also thought an ad director at WFMK where I worked for a short time in the late '80s was his ex-wife. I can't remember her first name, but I am sure sh...
