Blunder will never beat B-93 by doing the exact same format and without a local morning show they probably will do
worse in the ratings than before if that's possible.

Re: Detroit Classic Rock Radio
To some extent the last post is correct that non radio people don't know all of the radio terminology but again I do think WLLZ could promote themselves as "Classic Hard Rock" since they already have a harder image than their competition at WCSX. I do think especially in the Detroit area the average...

Re: 93.1 FM craps the bed in the latest Nielsen audio ratings survey
WDRQ owned by Cumulus in Detroit is quite similar to "Thunder Country" owned by Cumulus in G.R. They both play the
same major label modern country hits of the 2000's and always get beat by their competition. Only in Flint and A.A.
can they run that format right where there's no local competition.

Re: Detroit Classic Rock Radio
To my point on the last post of WLLZ branding themselves as "classic hard rock" and eliminating overplayed classic pop hits that would position WLLZ between two Beasley stations musically. Beasley owns the successful classic rock station WCSX and the active rock station WRIF. Again the active rock s...

Re: Detroit Classic Rock Radio
None of the replies to this post have satisfied me. I still believe that if WLLZ wanted to be more successful they should promote themselves as classic hard rock and just concentrate on the harder side of classic rock. They should just leave the music that is too pop classic rock such as Journey or ...

Detroit Classic Rock Radio
From those who responded to my impression on the sampling I have done on both WCSX and WLLZ it is confirmed to me, What is confirmed to me is that WCSX is a mainstream classic rock station and that WLLZ has a harder edge by playing more classic hard rock and heavy metal. I do think that if WLLZ woul...

Re: Nielsen audio #'s released 9/21
Grand Rapids needs some commercial radio stations to flip because they're getting more boring as time goes on. The first one that should be flipped as I and others have mentioned is "Thunder Country" at 107.3 FM owned by Cumulus. I have said that all they do is copy the more powerful B-93 with the s...

Non Commercial Radio in Flint
Although I grew up in the Grand Rapids area I've always had family ties to the Flint area and therefore I have studied the TV and radio there since the 1960's. I must say that non commercial radio in the Flint area sux worse than in other significant parts of Michigan. All you have are religious non...

Re: August ratings
I still would like to hear from Detroit area classic rock fans why they prefer WCSX over WLLZ. From my sampling of the two WCSX seems more mainstream classic rock while WLLZ seems more classic hard rock and heavy metal. Perhaps WLLZ should consider being all classic hard rock and heavy metal.. If an...

Re: WLNZ to Michigan Radio?
I still would like to know if U-M still wants LCC's weak little WLNZ. It may help them in downtown Lansing but for people who want a non commercial music source it would be a devastating loss. I personally think "Michigan Radio" can be heard in Lansing well enough with WVGR-FM 104.1, WUOM-FM 91.7, a...

Re: August ratings
I offered a reason why I believe WCSX always beats its classic rock competitor WLLZ. I believe based on my sampling of the two Detroit classic rockers that WLLZ puts more of an emphasis on classic hard rock such as Van Halen and classic heavy metal such as Motley Crew. I 'm not saying that WCSX won'...

Re: Nielsen audio #'s released 9/21
B-93 was the overall number one station once again in the Grand Rapids area for those surveyed 12 and over. It clearly demonstrates that "Thunder Country" should stop trying to copy B-93 with the same major label modern country hits of the 2000's. When B-93 runs that format it's in style and when "T...

Re: August ratings
I posted that the Detroit area overall ratings of all 12 and up came out for the August survey. The only station that I mentioned was the classic rock station WCSX- FM 94.7 as number one with a 7.2 share. I should also mention that the classic hits station WOMC-FM 104.3 also had a 7.2 share. Apparen...

I noticed that the overall ratings for all 12+ in the Detroit area came out. WCSX-FM 94.7 FM with it's classic rock format is number one with a 7.2 share. Classic Rock does better in the Detroit area than it does in the Grand Rapids area because WCSX is a much better sounding classic rock station th...
