Re: JML "Class Action" jingles - 1979-80

There's some JML on this aircheck from right around that era (the description says May 1979 but I think some of the material on this check goes as far back as '77 and perhaps up to the summer/fall of '79). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPiIEy5sG58 Yeah, it wasn't from Nov of 1979 on because Kara ...

Re: JML "Class Action" jingles - 1979-80

Good memories indeed. When those were replaced by the "whispers" it was a bad day on Click Road, let me say that. We natives were not happy.

Re: WJML "AM 11" heard last night

They should do "WJML The Music Station" and a "JML" jingle between alternating tracks. Assuming the master reels are still in the old building, they're probably in rough shape. Who was the JML voice guy? He probably did the liners and ID's for WMUS as well. Did PAMS do the jingles? I don't remember...

Re: WJML

Not too long after KHQ went on the air and everyone's perception was that they were so "different," Rob Hazleton had me listen to KHQ one night from 7-12p while I was on the air and I just duplicated everything they played, which looking back 40+ years probably wasn't the brightest thing to do. lol...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike

Got my interest this morning. I think Tim Moore may have sent out the Bob and Tom tapes back in the day. As a sidebar, I interviewed for the morning show at WJML as their replacement sometime in 80 I think. It was with the legend who is/was Lucy Nally. The interview took place at MUS. I wound up ca...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike

Good Conversation. I think there is a big difference between big signals covering more rural areas, and corporate radio moving signals around and dumping the local market to make more money. IE -106.9 WOOD-FM is a great example. Take a Heritage Muskegon station and make it a repeater for a Grand Ra...

Re: WJML

Class Action was the JAM Package JML was using when I got there in Nov of 1979: http://www.jingles.com/jam/radioids/ClassAction.php That was truly a great jingle package, and gave JML a big city sound. The station had what I would call a "tight" sound, and the live jocks 24/7 were all great or at l...

Re: 106.7 is no more

In late 1980 after KHQ went on the air corporate in Muskegon shifted our music at JML to VERY A/C. If it had an electric guitar in it, we clouldn't play it. Plus, our 35 commercials an hour weren't helping.

Re: Did WKHQ or WKPK Ever Have A Published Record Survey?

I don't recall that either KHQ or KPK had surveys. We stopped publishing ours at JML in 1979.

Re: WJML

JML used the "Super JML" PAMS jingles in 1977 and 1978, having dropped them by the time I arrived in late 1979. By then, they had converted to JAM and the name of the package fails me forty years later, but it was the same one used by WLS. Those jingles lasted until we were switched to the hideous "...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979

Well, since I see my name here I might as well chime in. I started at JML in November of 1979 doing midnight-530am. A month later they moved me to 7p-midnight. KHQ wasn't on the air yet. Corporate HQ in Muskegon controlled the new adds to the playlist. We were just in the process of converting music...
