Re: Another lame weather gimmick

Once again, another diversion tactic. You know not what you’re talking about. Since I’m focused on trying to improve our newscasts to be relevant to our viewers lives/interests. Beer is just interested in name calling. But he’s right on one point, his “sparkling” back and forth means very little to ...

Re: Community Wide failure?

There was a time when Community Wide was actually relevant. We did an episode devoted to the opioid crisis and won awards for the in-depth coverage. But those days —as Harry Carey would say — are “looooong goooone!”

Re: Community Wide failure?

That is not the case. The FCC stopped requiring public affair shows and community engagement initiated more than a decade ago. Now we are required to post the community issues covered in our programming and post that information online to prove that we are serving in the public interest. Community W...

Re: Another lame weather gimmick

I’m not sure who you are calling “old friend”. You claim that you’ve never worked for 25-66, so you clearly don’t know me and I don’t know you. I have a job that I live and am good at. That’s why I’m fighting so hard to improve the quality of our newscasts. What’s your excuse for defending the same ...

Re: Another lame weather gimmick

Ahhh... another hate-filled retort from 25-66’s Chief Apologist... who clearly misses the point. Many times these initiatives are forced upon us from management. That’s why you get lame gimmicks like “The Weather Warriors”, “Asking the Tough Questions”, “The Rant”, Sunrise Yoga, The Ghost of Mr. Foo...

Another lame weather gimmick

We are told over and over and over again how important local weathercasts are. We’re forced to sit through research meetings to be told how local weather is the number one reason why local viewers tune in to newscasts and apps. We spend tons of money on weather presentation systems at the same time ...

Re: Community Wide failure?

Yep, which is my point. Why keep putting all the time and effort into a program which has no viewership, no advertising revenue and no point of difference. It’s time to say this experiment has failed and move on to a better model.

Re: WEYI the butt of Daily Show episode

Making observations about ways 25-66 management can improve work conditions and morale isn’t a personal attack... unless you are the station manager with extremely thin skin. I didnt say you were “full of sh*t”, so stop trying to rewrite history and stay on topic please. We can have differences with...

Re: WEYI the butt of Daily Show episode

Instead of personal attacks, you might want to actually address the topic’s premise, Beer.

Re: WEYI the butt of Daily Show episode

Beer: you may want to keep your personal commentaries to yourself. I never said it wasn’t a legitimate story. I said it wasn’t good to have your stories mocked on a national comedy show. I don’t think it was a good thing to have 12’s reporter mocked by drawing a “penis” on the telestrator either. Fu...

Re: WEYI the butt of Daily Show episode

True, but the GM, Assistant GM and HR Director are known to not have senses of humor about these things.

If anyone from those days were still around, you can rest assured that there would be a @meeting” in the GM’s office!

WEYI the butt of Daily Show episode

It’s never good when the Daily Show takes one of your clips and mocks it for the world to see:

But this is 25-66 after all...

Community Wide failure?

Does anyone bother to watch CW 46’s Community Wide program? The then News Director claimed it was a show that would highlight great journalism (extended reports on issues facing our communities) and build relationships with organizations that would make us media partners for big community events. So...

Re: MidMichigan NOW at 5pm on NBC25

As someone who says he hasn’t worked for 25-66, you are categorically wrong on both arguments. Even agent negotiated contracted workers (mainly anchors and reporters) were limited to the 1.5% increase. And the GM and HR Director always approved the 1.5% increase for all workers, regardless of perfor...

Re: MidMichigan NOW at 5pm on NBC25

Lovin: not necessarily so. We’ve been pushing FOR YEARS better compensation after years of being restricted to 1.5% pay increases across the board. That meant the best employee was rewarded as the absolute worst employee. This came at the same time that Sinclair was trying to buy up other media grou...
