Re: WOOD promoting Carlson & Cuomo
Another example of why Nexstar forcing local stations to promote its national cable network, News Nation, is asinine. The total network viewership of the Cuomo-Carlson “EXCLUSIVE!” interview is less than the daily viewership on WOOD TV. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/3/12/do-you-want-some-wh...

Re: Deadspin is Dead
Scotty Livingston is a special one. He visited Flint exactly one time before deciding to spend millions of dollars on a new tv studio… only to lay off most of the news staff a few years later. Business genius he’s not.

Deadspin is Dead
If it’s not one greedy corporate owner, it’s another. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/11/media/deadspin-sale-layoffs?cid=ios_app Deadspin, which produced the viral video showing NBC 25 & FOX 66 anchors Dave Bondy and Stephanie Parkinson read a Sinclair corporate script blaming the media for not telling ...

Why would anyone take advice from this bozo?

He’s the same guy that championed Scrippscast. When it imploded, he got his walking papers.

WOOD promoting Carlson & Cuomo
I’m sure this is a corporate mandate from Nexstar, but why is WOOD TV promoting a NewsNation interview of a former failed CNN host and a failed Fox News host? https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/3/9/the-entitled-zone Before being owned by Nexstar, WOOD wouldn’t have been caught dead promoting ano...

Re: Tornado coverage
South Bend doesn’t want anything to do with Kalamazoo. They regard WWMT as small market. Plus WSBT already saw how bad the cross market experiment went when they had to manage Toledo’s failing newscasts.

Re: Fox 2 News
This has to be a play for more political advertising dollars. There just isn’t enough of a sizable audience at 4pm to justify another hour of news on Fox 2. I’m sure they won’t be adding significant numbers of reporters, photographers and producers to support the new show.

Re: Broadcasting burnout
Organman; I agree with your assessment. It’s those greedy corporations that are squeezing out every penny will soon find out that they’ve killed the golden goose. Where you once had a Director, technical director, graphics operator, sound engineer, teleprompter operator, floor director, and multiple...

Re: Broadcasting Awards
It’s only pay to play to the extent that you need to enter to be considered. If you do crap work all year, no matter how many entries you put in, you won’t win. In the MABs, Flint-Saginaw stations compete with Grand Rapids-Kzoo stations. So it’s not a given that you’re going to win, especially when ...

Matt: seek professional help. Your comment (again) is incorrect and off topic.
The fact is you have absolutely nothing to add to this discussion about burn out …
Keep it classy, Matt.

Re: Broadcasting burnout
Editorcj: you are right. It would be a good start. Probably wouldn’t solve all issues, but maybe TV station managers would raise wages or improve culture if employees could cross the street.
