Re: Appalling lack of diversity at NBC 25/Fox 66

It’s also been pointed out that I didn’t include Ahmad in my list. Excellent point since Ahmad is one of the first Chief meteorologists of Middle Eastern decent in the US.

Another excellent point... Ahmad was hired by Kathy Reynolds, the news director before Sinclair took over.

Re: Appalling lack of diversity at NBC 25/Fox 66

Talented and diverse anchors and reporters like Courtney Wheaton, Kelli Taylor, Sharisse Thompson, Ilse Lujan Haves, Walter Smith Randolph, Brittney Noble, Jane Park and Kristen Aguirre all leave and opportunities to replace them with diverse and qualified voices are missed.

Appalling lack of diversity at NBC 25/Fox 66

In a city as diverse as Flint, I find it amazing that Sinclair run WEYI-WSMH has a nearly all-white cast: Dave Bondy, Stephanie Parkinson, Bill Harris, Kristen Lowe, Rachelle Spence are all Caucasian. Mike Woolfolk is the only person of color that has been hired to anchor a newscast (albeit mornings...

Re: Great addition to NBC25/FOX66

No, you can “transfer” to another SBG station without penalty... but Kristen would have had to sign a new 2-3 year contract. Sinclair currently owns or operates 170 local TV stations across the country, plus regional sport networks like Fox Sports Detroit and the Tennis Channel. The FCC has signed o...

Tom was a great sports Director. That’s not a slam at Greg to say that.

Re: Battle of the Christmas concerts

And the GM “gives away” some FOX network swag/crap from shows that were cancelled several seasons ago. Nothings says “thank you for your service” like Scream Queens, Melrose Place, and Prison Break.

Re: Great addition to NBC25/FOX66

Agreed. You don’t need an agent unless you plan to go to New York, LA, Chicago. Other than that, it’s a waste of money.

Re: Battle of the Christmas concerts

I find it funny that Joel has been posting stories and photos fro MLive and about his buddies at WJRT — but crickets about his last employer, WEYI. The station may have framed it as an amicable departure, but it’s clear Joel was glad to leave 25-66. The GM prefers it that way. Lose good people with ...

Re: Adios Boris

Yes, so now Sinclair is replacing mouth full of marbles Boris and his commentary segments with... commentaries framed as news stories from former FOX News conservative commentator James Rosen. Good journalists know not to make themselves the story. Jimmy needs to go back to journalism school since h...

Re: NBC25/Fox66 forced to read promo

It probably took time for the station to build a case against Schram — so they could fire him over “Trumped” up charges.

But I like the “hostage promo” line. Very appropriate in this case!

Re: Battle of the Christmas set displays

The decorator doesn’t have the final say over how to decorate the TV set. WEYI does. I’m not sure why you’re defending a set that looks like it was decorated by Buddy the Freskin’ Elf.

Re: Great addition to NBC25/FOX66

If Dave Bondy — not Blondie — wishes to take a job in his home state to be closer to family, that is his right. And he shouldn’t be forced to sign these anti-competitive, anti-worker clauses that Sinclair puts into its contracts and enforces if/when one of its workers find a better job, better marke...

Re: Battle of the Christmas set displays

So that makes it OK to go overboard with the Christmas decorations? I didn’t say the station paid out cash for the display. Of course, WEYI is too cheap to do that. My argument was aesthetics. It is waaay too much.

Re: Great addition to NBC25/FOX66

Because it’s built into their contracts and if you object before signing then Sinclair will say thanks, but we’ll just hire someone else. When you’re looking for a new job, why would you risk losing the job and being banned from being hired for potential jobs at one of the largest local broadcasters...
