Re: John Mellencamp is a self-righteous asshat
I'm more disappointed that he used a slur than that he behaved like a two-year-old. Self-indulgent behavior and rudeness is just par for the course with rock stars.

109.1? There isn't a radio I know of that can tune that high. At least not in this country.

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
Comcast in Saline carried only WTVS and WFUM/WCMZ when I lived there, but WGTE was the easiest to get OTA. I didn't have any Toledo stations on cable, but they came in OTA for me better than Detroit. Charter here in Whitmore Lake carried WKAR (and WLNS) along with WTVS when I first moved here. Both ...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
Comcast dropped WCMU in Flint despite WCMU still being assigned to the Flint/Tri-Cities market. However, both dishes and Spectrum still carry WCMU in the entire Flint DMA. In fact, WCMU is still carried on Spectrum systems in northern Oakland County and Lapeer County. Speaking of WCMU, I'm a little...

Re: Weather Boys
This is why I don't watch WJBK anymore. Maybe female viewers in their 20s and 30s think this is cute. I find it juvenile.

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
I think Candy Candy had an English dub from ZIV International that ended up direct to video (or in syndication) in the U.S. ZIV also dubbed the '70s Nippon Animation Little Lulu series, which also aired on TVO, at least in French (maybe in English too). Seem like Canada gave these shows a chance wh...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
I grew up with Comcast in Mount Clemens/Clinton Township, and the only Canadian station we ever got was CBET. We didn't even have WGN, getting the inferior WOR/WWOR instead. i was able to watch TVO on channel 32 with rabbit ears, though. Without a good antenna, it was the only other Canadian station...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
One of the neat things about getting to watch TVO and CBC French, for me, was all the anime they used to show that you couldn't see on the American networks. TVO had Alice in Wonderland, Tales of Magic and (during their Sunday French programming) Maeterlinck's Blue Bird (L'Oiseau Bleu); SRC had Ali...

Re: Tornado coverage
I watched some of WOOD TV's coverage on YouTube of the Van Buren County/Lawton area tornado warning. Impressive job as always.

9&10 had cable coverage in parts of the Thumb as well. WNEM and WJRT were carried in the Michigan Sault in place of the northern Michigan affiliates of NBC and ABC. 29&8 didn't even have cable coverage in the Michigan Sault, which also got WJRT (both 7&4 and WNEM were carried on the Michigan side)....

I asked on their FB page if this was due to a lightning strike. They replied that the cause is still under investigation.

Peter Stewart (Adrian radio) passes away
Adrian radio veteran Peter Stewart passed on February 19 at age 62. He had worked at WLEN, WQTE and WABJ, This is from WLEN's Facebook page: "This Friday we will be having an on-air tribute to our friend, Peter Stewart, who passed away last week.
