Re: WWJ AM not broadcasting in HD Radio

For the past few weeks WWJ has not been broadcasting in HD Radio on AM. Anyone know why? Is it an equipment issue or what? Will they start broadcasting again in HD Radio anytime soon? I had been listening to them everyday in HD Radio and love the improved fidelity. Zack S To my ears the HD sound qu...

Re: After a review of vital records (Covid)

This thread has nothing to do with Detroit radio or TV. I suggest the moderator move this to the "Everything Else" section.

Re: March 2021 radio ratings

I assume 88.1 WYCE doesn't subscribe. I wonder what sort of ratings they'd display if they did. Likewise Blue Lake (88.9). I think a lot of 94.5's target audience already listen to WYCE or to NPR (if they even listen to radio at all) and probably look down their noses at Cumulus' more commercial app...

Evanov makes changes in Ottawa, Montreal areas

"Jewel" 98.5 in Ottawa and 106.7 in the Montreal suburbs have been relaunched as "Lite," with a slightly more contemporary (but still soft) playlist similar to the U.S. "Breeze" stations. Meanwhile, the "Jewel" stations in Clarence/Rockland (92.5) and Hawkesbury (107.7) were both flipped to "Hot Cou...

Re: Putting a ribbon on a turd in LA

"L.A.'s Party Station"? That sounds so 1990's Churban. Not to mention it doesn't really fit with the sluggish tempo of today's trap pop (unless your party involves more toking than dancing).

Re: March 2021 Radio Ratings

What's up with WNIC? I never listen, but I flipped it on in the car and it is actually listenable! Celine Dion, followed by Matthew Wilder, Leann Rimes, and then George Michael. It's like the 90s again At the same time they're playing a lot more in the way of "955" current/recurrent music. Surf Mes...

Re: WBRB and Rosie OGrady?

Charles H. Park, Sr., the father of Charles H. Park, Jr. of WBRB, was the Chief Announcer at WJR for quite a few years. Charles Park, Sr. worked with Donald F. DeGroot at WFDF at the beginning of their careers. Don DeGroot retired as VP/GM of the Evening News Association and the WWJ Stations in the...

Re: WBRB and Rosie OGrady?

Found this in a Billboard magazine "Radio Response Rating" report for Detroit from 1965: WBRB: 500 watts. A Malrite station. Music format: Contemporary-Pop Standard. Editorializes on issues affecting local community. Special programming: Mich. State, Roseville & St. Clement [sic - I assume they mea...

Re: Reason #1,027 why Alt 98.7 SUCKS

You're probably not seeing the song/artist info because you were hearing one of the nationally syndicated Audacy shows at that moment. Middays are voice tracked from NYC and I've noticed the song/artist info does display at that time.

Re: Black Diamond Broadcast Group has filed a $500,000 deal to buy hot AC WCFX, Clare, MI (95.3)

One thing I will say for WCFX, they are definitely not cookie cutter. But they also are not Hot AC. They played Megan Thee Stallion when I was in the area this past weekend. Production-wise they seem a bit stuck in the '90s. Especially referring to the music sweeps as "All Hit Power Plays." But that...

I also talked to Paul Christie when he was at 102.7 Mt Clemens, forget what the call letters were then. I told him that WABX 990 could be upgraded due to the US Canada Agreement being modified. He said he wasn't interested.

Re: WVFM got JACKED up!

i92.9 in Lansing had a similar Hot AC feel toward the end. However, that type of mix, filling the gap between CHR and Hot AC, was successful on WKFR for years, and if they are emphasizing localism they may just have a chance. FWIW, in addition to all the syndication it now runs, WKFR now plays the T...
