Re: WWSJ 1580

I suppose it's possible they could have been on night power during the day. I thought it would have still been possible to hear them in Dewitt (where I noted them apparently off) even with 3 watts.
However, on Christmas Day when visiting family in Okemos, they seemed to be back to normal.

Re: WWSJ 1580

For anyone who cares (which apparently is nobody), WWSJ's back on the air. Heard it yesterday.

Re: 98.9 is being sold

WITI had to have been something of a headache in the western fringes of the WJIM-TV/WLNS coverage area, especially during the summer tropo season. I was never once able to pick up the channel 67 translator signal when I lived in Saline, for what that's worth. Of course, my rabbit ears often had trou...

Re: LPFM filings

Make This World Foundation, IIRC, had a station on 102.3 before with the calls WEGV-LP, though the tower was located near Chelsea and the signal didn't reach Ann Arbor (which was the COL).

Re: 98.9 is being sold

If I'm not mistaken, 91.3 WCSG was the first non-comm religious station in West Michigan, signing on in 1973. At that time, I think the only other local station in the non-comm portion of the FM band was Grand Valley's 88.5 WSRX (WGVU-FM) which I believe only ran 10 watts of power then. I think 89.3...

WWSJ 1580

It's apparently been off the air for several months now. The 100.3 FM translator is still operating (illegally) and is still mentioning 1580 AM on the air.
Anyone know what's up?

Re: "Immigrants are poisoning the blood of this country"

If you've convinced yourself that Trump is Hitler, fine. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise, however ridiculous I may find the comparison to be. I'm done arguing this point. You simply refuse to admit these are problematic statements that are contrary to the founding principles of this ...

Re: Blunder 107.3 ties worst AQH share ever; WGRD expands lead over WLAV

I guess I wasn't the only one who stopped listening after Len O'Kelly's ousting. Toward the end of my time at Aquinas (I graduated in 2002), I recall the station tightening up its playlist, dropping a lot of the pre-Beatles music they had played, getting rid of features like the Top 5 at 5 (where th...

Re: Pop songs are getting WAY shorter

At this rate, American Top 40 could easily go back to being a three-hour show, as it was before 1978. One less hour of Ryan Seacrap might actually be a good thing.

Re: 96.3 bought by IHeart?

Didn't Rick also work at WKQI for a while? According to back issues of R&R on Dave Gleason's site, Rick Gillette programmed Q95-5 from December 1997 to July or August of 1998. I guess that explains why the station started sounding a lot more staid and conservative musically by that fall (i.e. getti...

Brenda Lee rewrites the history books

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," recorded in 1958 when Brenda Lee was 13 (she's now about to turn 79), has reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, her first #1 hit since "I Want to Be Wanted" 63 years ago. The first time it charted (in 1960), it peaked at #14. It's recharted and climbed as high as ...

Re: Peggy 99.1 Winnipeg to flip to Country

CHR is in such a rut that it's drawing from Country - probably more than at any time since the early '80s (even the Faith Hill/Shania Twain crossover era in the late '09s/early '00s wasn't this big). Look at the crossover success of Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs this year. A year ago at this time, i...
