Re: CBSDetroit62

I'd hate to see them give up the 62 virtual channel assignment. Channel 62 was the station from Weird Al's movie "UHF". Keep 62!!!

Re: CICO-32 in Windsor

Once CBET went digital, it became a fringe signal for me. My two antennas point in the Saint Clair Shores and Southfield directions now. That gets me all of the Detroit majors, including WADL. If the CBC were smart, they would boost power and add subchannels to CBET. Add some unique subchannels and ...

Re: WTF is channel 4 doing?

I very rarely watch the main channels anymore. I watch WDIV for ThisTV and MeTV. If it wasn't for weather alerts, I'd delete the main channels. The digital subchannels have to be really killing viewership on the main ones. 99 percent of my local viewing is spent on H&I, ThisTV, MeTV, Buzzr and Movie...

Re: WMYD To Host Detroit’s First ATSC 3.0 Signal

I think we will see an ATSC 3.0 ultra def main channel, encoded via HEVC or a similar codec. That will leave sufficient bandwidth for subchannels and a feed of the main channel in 480i ATSC 1.0. The old ATSC 1.0 enhanced def stream will be gone, IMO. If you want HD, you will have to buy a new box o...

Re: WMYD To Host Detroit’s First ATSC 3.0 Signal

Unlike the current standard, ATSC 3.0 makes use of both over-the-air signals and your in-home broadband to deliver an experience closer to cable or satellite. I don't see the big deal about ATSC 3.0 . I have a better picture now with the current standard then I ever recieved from Comcast . Just cur...

Re: DECADES IS COMING BACK THIS FALL!!!

Looks like WJBK will go to 720p on the main channel to fit Decades into the mux. Good decision. 720p is a nice resolution and give more bandwidth for other subchannels. Hey WTVS! Hint...hint...drop PBS Kids down to 480i and add NHK World. WJBK already is 720p My bad. I thought they were 1080i. That...

Re: Why is Sanilac part of the Detroit DMA?

The Thumb area of MI screams for a 100kW digital TV transmitter, with about 8 multiplexed digital subchannels. Place it just south of Bad Axe. Put 480i of the majors from F-S-BC and 2 or 3 digital subchannels on it. It would probably have to be a Sinclair-owned station, since they own a lot of stat...

Re: Why can't WHNE go to UHF 30?

I'd love to see WHNE go to full power on channel 3. Be loud and proud, baby!

Being full power would attract more digital subchannels for them at conventions.

Re: OTA channels MIA

Question on the 'Xtreme Signal' ant. When it's aimed to get WADL can you still get chan. 9+32 out of Canada and the Toledo stations. It looks like it may be too directional. I use an omni directional 15' up with a small amp to boost but the WADL is only an occasional get. From my location, aiming s...

Re: OTA channels MIA

I use a Xtreme Signal HDB91X in a Detroit suburb facing room, on a tripod mount with a 5ft pole. I cannot mount significant outdoor antennas, due to restrictions. The HDB91X pulls in great signal from that room, including a 42 mile shot over to WADL.

Re: New channel frquencies

I was looking at rabbitears the other night. I think the CW affiliate up there in F-S-BC area is switching to a 600kW transmitter when they do their phase 3 switchover from RF 46 to RF23. If so, they will be quite a powerful signal up there. You mention that they're going from 70kW ERP to 600kW ERP...
