Re: Andy Stuart out?

His "editorials" used to run on all the Clear Channel stations regardless of format. You'd be listening to WIOT and all of a sudden "I'm Andy Stuart. Michael Bell must be the next mayor of Toledo!". At least he dialed back on that stuff at Cumulus I remember another odd move of his not long before h...

Re: New Daytime Talk Shows

For those interested, Kelly Clarkson's new show now has a station list online: https://www.kellyclarksonshow.com/exclusives/where-to-watch Looks like she'll be on almost everywhere in the U.S. I was surprised NBC is promoting it on their cable channels like NBCSN, even though it's syndicated to a l...

Uh yeah, this has only been happening pretty much since Kurt Cobain shot himself and grunge flamed out.

Re: Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethons

As a kid I prayed for good weather on Labor Day weekend so we could go to the cottage or the beach. If it rained we were stuck watching the damn telethon because my mom was a Jerry fan. If anyone cool like Hulk Hogan made an appearance it would be at like 5:30 AM. Otherwise it was Tony Orlando, Char...

Re: Will There be "Terrorism Alerts" during Tiger Broadcasts?

I am more curious about what the branding and presentation will be like. I hope there aren't a lot of personnel changes. I have grown to like the Fox Sports presentation for Detroit Sports. On the plus side, hopefully there will be some synergies with the Sinclair owned stations to bring some games...

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago

Agreed about Goldhammer. He’s not good on the air either. I used to listen to Rizzo and Goldhammer about 10 years ago when all I had at work was terrestrial radio. WKNR comes in good in Toledo during the day and they were the best of a bad selection in middays, but that doesn't mean they were good....

Re: Your best ever car radio?

My dad's 94 Cavalier and my '04 Cavalier both had excellent stock radios. Could listen to Chicago AM stations in Toledo during the day as long as I wasn't right under a power line. FM was good except for co-channel interference, eg WCSX on 94.7 was obliterated by WXKR on 94.5 The current 2018 Hyunda...

Odd how it works. Toledo's had the Pistons on WCWA for a few years but not the Wings. For a long time the situation was reversed.

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago

I am very familiar with their Cleveland station. Curious as to what changes they will make. They’ll charge $10.00 a month for podcasts no one wants and install friends of Craig K. in management positions regardless of the qualifications or lack thereof (*cough* Aaron Goldhammer *cough*). WSCR has t...

Re: Online shortwave radios

Thanks for sharing the link Ed. I was playing on that site earlier, listening to the shortwave receiver based in Farmington Hills. It doesn't quite have the same magic as tuning your own radio in the dark, no, but if you're listening to a muezzin sing in Arabic on the 21 meter band you can click ove...
