Re: WMVP Downgrade

I'd forgotten WMVP has the Bears and White Sox now. Of course, their signal was notorious for like, literally being stronger in Pittsburgh and Buffalo than Aurora because it was so heavily nulled to the west to protect the station in Seattle on 1000. When the White Sox were last on WMVP in the early...

speaking of Rebecca Regnier, looks like she's coming back to 13 as co-host of the morning talk show "The Nine" next month

Re: Fake Wheels still sucks

Yeah I'm pretty sure I've heard it on IOT, at least before I removed IOT from my car's presets 4-5 years ago. And I know 101.5 the River and WRQN play it as well. Knowing Toledo radio, there's a chance 3 stations have played it at the same time at one point lol

Re: WTVG 75th Anniversary special

Even from the high-rise dorm I mentioned earlier, where I had a north-facing room, 2 would come in occasionally. I am not sure about 4, 7 or 9. I didn't try for them all that often given that we got all four on cable, plus WKBD. This was off an older tube TV with one of those circular antennas. 50 ...

Re: Shipshewana, IN FM Bandscan 7/20

I'm not all that surprised no Chicago stations show up in Shipshewana, except possibly during tropo. I've lived in Toledo with family in Chicagoland since 2005 and, making that drive plenty of times down the Indiana Toll Road, Chicago FM stations are usually pretty much unlistenably fading out aroun...

Re: Baseball Announcing Teams Ranked

It's interesting that the Yankees are such a storied franchise in all of pro sports and have some of the worst announcers on both fronts. The Mets have much better announcers on both radio and TV. Yeah, most of the big market teams (Mets, Dodgers, both Chicago teams, Giants) have very good announce...

Re: Baseball Announcing Teams Ranked

I don't see why a big national name wouldn't want to be the TIgers broadcaster. You get to live in one of the coldest parts of the country, announce a bad, boring team and always be negatively compared to Harwell, Kaline and Kell! What's not to love?? There are worse broadcasters than the Tigers' cu...

Re: Detroit Tigers Announcers Voted Worst In MLB

if so many people hadn't gotten rid of cable, even the app wouldn't be an option.

I miss Rod and Mario, but they hated each other, couldn't keep it under control to be professional, and they were gone.

Monroe is alright. Shepard is just generic. I've heard worse MLB broadcasts, though.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2023

Nothing, because the owner is a fucking tightwad who only cares about the Red Wings.

But on the other hand, whoever wins the AL Comedy Central is going to get KILLED in the playoffs anyway.

Re: Bob & Tom Show returning to NW Michigan

Bob retired in what, 2015? Something to be said for branding I guess.

I think they've been on WIOT here in Toledo for 25 years now. I've never enjoyed the show especially when I had to hear it at work every day, but they definitely have their fans here.

I remember listening to him on WJMK in the car with my mom in like 1989-90 and he'd already been around forever THEN, he made his name at WLS (AM) in the 60s.

Re: Detroit Traffic Reporters

I hear Pascoe's voice on Toledo stations owned by iHeart occasionally. Most of Toledo’s traffic reporters are based in Detroit. Lorna Stevens and Kevin Sanderson also come to mind. I don't think Toledo's traffic reporters have ever been based locally. 10-12 years ago when I'd listen to Toledo radio...

We just got through the surreal world of covid, and now this. Is normal gone for good?
yes. It was funny for the few years when people thought the salvation of Flint, Toledo, Youngstown and Huntington was going to be Californians fleeing in search of fresh air and water, though.
