Falling from # 10 to # 11 in the AP College Football.
Without even playing, they fell from 10 to 11.

MSU lost and fell out of the Top 25.

Re: The Last Radio Reunion presented by Lee Alan

Did anyone make it to this? I really wanted to go but had to work. It was a sell-out, but lots of room and time to chat with everyone. The guests were all over the room with time to spend talking with whoever. I had a great time seeing the people who I only knew from voices on the radio or from You...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979

I was checking some History Cards and Maps around Crystal Lake. WTCM-FM 103.5 had recently signed on when I was there in 1967. It was 38 kW ERP, H and later added V Bays. It was a little over 700 feet HAAT from the M-72 old WPBN tower 2-3 miles West of Traverse City. The WTCM (AM) 1400 and WCCW (AM)...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979

Our family stayed at various places along the South side of Crystal Lake in the 1960s. Most were near or off Mollineaux Road. Once we stayed in a cabin called THISLDU, owned by Bob Renwick. It had been their family cabin which he now rented. I think he was related to a couple of Renwicks in radio. W...

Re: Most Dangerous Roundabouts In Michigan

The one at I-75 and Bristol Rd. is a joke, especially when the GM plant gets out at 2:30. Not to mention the score of trucking companies in that area adding to the mess. Long ago, when things were still going well at GM, they should have put some more overpasses over I-75, like Torrey Rd./12th St.,...

Re: Most Dangerous Roundabouts In Michigan

Well then, put traffic lights up too, and that will reduce side collisions.

Re: FCCdata.org Now Has Skywave Contours

Here's the old model from the 1960 NAB Engineering Handbook.

It's on Page 1-117.

Re: Most Dangerous Roundabouts In Michigan

I think a new one that will soon be recognized as a problem is the one at the I-75 Bristol Rd. Exit, used by a lot of out of the area travelers heading for Bishop Airport. Like many have said, unfamiliarity with the peculiarities of a particular roundabout are problematic.

Re: FCCdata.org Now Has Skywave Contours

My recollection is that you don't get a 0.5 mV/m 50% Skywave with less than the equivalent of a Class I minimum efficiency facility, with 10 kW Class I minimum power, about 710 mV/m @ 1 mile. Then it snaps back to the 0.5 mV/m ground wave for directionals near the nulls. They are showing some skywav...

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2019

None of the existing translators cover the whole area, let alone new ones. If the frequencies are not duplicated in Canada, they are duplicated in neighboring markets in the US. And some of the translators that appear to have great signals may not be operating within FCC licensed power and modulatio...

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2019

WCXI 1160 has yet to stop the scan, and it's difficult to hear at my RL. I really don't think the 250 watt STA is even as strong as the signal from Fenton at full power at my RL. I can barely tell that WPON 1460 is even on the air, as it is receiving GROUNDWAVE interference from some other stations ...

Re: New channel frquencies

I was looking at rabbitears the other night. I think the CW affiliate up there in F-S-BC area is switching to a 600kW transmitter when they do their phase 3 switchover from RF 46 to RF23. If so, they will be quite a powerful signal up there. You mention that they're going from 70kW ERP to 600kW ERP...

A Conflation Of 99s and Totos

99 by Toto is not about Agent 99, and the name Toto is not originally about the dog from "The Wizard Of Oz". But this conflation helps me forget that Sirius XM overplays Toto.

Re: The Coming End Of Rock and Roll

Some of Joni Mitchell's favorite memories were from the time she spent in Michigan circa 1966 and 1967, when she briefly married Chuck Mitchell at his family's house on Tienken Rd., the Verona Apartments near Cass Ave. in Detroit, and her close friends in Flint where she played in their Coffee House...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979

WJML was memorable as AC also. Art Morrison, Kurt Kelly, Art Bussure, Bob and Tom, Del Reynolds, George Taylor McIntyre, and many others have gone on to larger roles and fame, For a "small town" station, it was always memorable regardless of format.
