Re: Beginning to think Fox 2 has a liberal agenda

Two recent things that jump out: A report by Amy Andrews where she passionately talked about how government neglect of the black community has led to today's protests. Did she mean the same black community that has had trillions of dollars thrown to it since the mid 1960s? The Let It Rip segment on ...

Re: The Sounds of Silence

on the "Sounds of the Season" channel?? Yes, 441. They've got it going now. Apparently, the "official" Christmas in July holiday is July 25, so it looks like this will last for at least two more weeks. The Did You Know segments always have a nice tongue-in-cheek tone: Why have a snowball fight when...

One of the Music Choice channels on cable works for me in that situation.
This time of year they always do a Christmas in July playlist for a few days, with all kinds of strange trivia. I'll have to tune in.

Re: Media Driven Racial Hostility

If they have their own national anthem, and it is different than yours, they are not in the same nation as you. They just told you that. Believe them There's a good quote from the movie Hoosiers that applies to all the protests during games: "Look, mister, there's... two kinds of dumb. A guy that g...

The Sounds of Silence

From the novel The Accidental Tourist , by Anne Tyler: "And she talked so much—almost ceaselessly; while Macon was the kind of man to whom silence was better than music. ("Listen! They're playing my song," he used to say when Sarah switched the radio off.)" Lately, every time I'm tempted to turn on ...

Re: 97.1

This thread got me curious, so I tuned in to 97.1 while out for lunch. The network host announced that at 1:20 they would discuss the top five late night hosts. Then he started an interview with an NFL reporter by talking about a "controversial" photo of the reporter with seltzer and a beer or somet...

Re: The Ghost Of Bill Kennedy

A couple of years ago, the Redford Theatre did a tribute to Kennedy that included clips from his shows and movies. Interestingly, one of the speakers at the tribute was Elliot Wilhelm of the Detroit Film Theatre. Elliot's Film Festival movie show on PBS, with intros and outros, helped re-create the ...

Media Driven Racial Hostility

On last night's news programs, the main theme was the different racial conflicts that have occurred in everyday situations in the last few weeks. The media acted shocked and surprised, but they are part of the problem, with the inflammatory way they have tried to stir up hostility between the races ...

Re: FETV

Our enjoyment of this station might be short-lived. FETV's Facebook page includes an announcment that the station will be pulled from the Comcast lineup after 6/30: https://www.facebook.com/FamilyEntertainmentTV

Re: FETV

My wife has latched onto some shows on FeTV. My issue with it is that Comcast does not format FeTV in the correct aspect ratio. FeTV's apparent 4:3 is stretched out to be fake 16:9 on the X1 box. My TV has a "wide" and "stretch" setting but not a "squeeze" so I can't correct it on my end. Another t...

I remember back in the 80’s Jim Harper saying he had a crush on Sherry. He always talked about her.
I remember falling in love with her during the local segment of the Jerry Lewis telethon one year.

is it this FETV?

If so, they have some good TV classics on there :D
Yes. It has a Perry Mason at a better time than MeTV—late afternoon and early evening instead of late night and morning.

FETV

I stumbled across an interesting retro station in the religious part of the Comcast lineup. It's FETV, which I learned is a cable/satellite channel that is very similar to MeTV and Antenna TV. Interestingly, it's at 386 on Comcast but not listed on the Comcast schedule that I just got in e-mail. I h...

Re: Detroit Protests coverage

This Friday GM is stopping work for 8 minutes 46 seconds to make a political statement. I haven't seen or heard the radio or TV coverage of this story, but the News and Free Press both basically cheer leaded this activity without considering the appropriateness of something like this in the workplac...

Voyeur alert!

At the bottom of a Detroit News story about storm damage, it reads:

Send us your photos or videos of storms and damage in your area (only if it is safe to do so) at online@detroitnews.com.

The story already had many such pictures, but I guess that wasn't enough...
