Re: Do we need a Non-Commerical portion of FM Anymore?

AMs on FM translators was a pure economic move that that did nothing to help the state of AM. If anything, it made it less relevant. Why should someone have a license to rebroadcast in the same area what they already have a license to air? It helped a business, nothing more. And totally f'd the FM b...

Re: National test??

The test was indeed the daisy chain. The test was successful as it showed areas (including regions of Michigan) where the chain can be broken.

Re: Now we know where WQAN was broadcasting from!

When the second STA site was rejected, the FCC said they were trying to get an STA for what is essentially a booster....and you can't get a booster under an STA. So in today's FCC applications is a booster application for the station, using the "second site" denied by the STA. Wonder how the FCC wil...

Re: CBSDetroit62

CBS closed on the purchase of 62 months later, as correctly pointed out by CircleWXYZ, because Joel Ferguson challenged the sale to keep an important local voice and minority program going and hoped he'd be able to buy it or at least become a partner. But even as the challenge process was playing o...

Re: Ratings are out!

New ratings just released: https://ratings.radio-online.com/content/arb335 Just 56% of listeners go to subscribing stations! I would guess Trish's stations would combine for around 13-15% of listeners and other non-subscribers/out of market stations combine for around 5-10%, so that would mean 20-2...

Re: Listeners are abandoning local radio in droves in the Lansing market

https://ratings.radio-online.com/content/arb195 Look at these numbers. WOW. Q106 just posted its worst book in over two decades' time. No wonder the playlist underwent a drastic shift in recent weeks!! WMMQ, meanwhile, recorded a very strong book. The other big surprises: - Terrible ratings for 90....

Re: Spring 2019 Nielsen Audio Quarterly Report (Updated: 07-23-19)

These numbers suggest to me young and middle aged male listeners and young female listeners are abandoning FM radio in droves - or at least spending a lot less time with the medium than they once did. Many stations more likely to perform well with the younger half of the 25-54 segment posted weak n...

Re: 99.3 WQAN Signal Strength

Eagle 101.5 puts out a very respectable product; all the other commercial FM stations based in the Ludington/Manistee area are a complete joke. Thank God the area can pick up WTCM-FM, Rock 95.5, some decent non-comm outlets, and a few decent Wisconsin stations. ' Its been 6 months, but WMTE is lame...

For other than test purposes why broadcast it if no one has a reciever until Christmas 2020 at which time they will be available .
