Re: 3 Grand Rapids stations were dead air on Sunday afternoon

Went to the store on Sunday afternoon. WRGD 97.9, WFGR 98.7 and WTRV 100.5 The River were all off the air between 2:30-2:45 (might be longer). Odd that all three were off. Satellite feed issues? Satellite Eclipse? (When a satellite becomes aligned with the sun, natural RF noise from the sun overwhe...

Re: Earth Conductivity vs. Groundwave Field Intensity

Pay attention to the fine print distance scales that state that the WJR map should be about twice the size of the WSB map! FWIW, WJR's daytime coverage to the North is not as good as the map. It likely assumes that the conductivity is 8mS/m, the "standard" conductivity for broad areas where, in fact...

Re: Does anyone get WUDL signal?

With my antenna mounted 30 feet up and pointed directly south, from M-59 and Mound in Shelby Twp, I am picking up every station listed in RabbitEars for the Detroit Market, expect for WUDL on RF 35. I see a very small signal of 12-14 but no quality to lock the channel in. I could be getting co-chan...

Re: 89X,93.9 The River & AM580 are Gone

89X: "You're probably not going to like it" Is code word for probably Country Music .... :hat Why do broadcasters do that? They BTW. 580 is alive and well. They're just a little off frequency. 578.8 KHZ I just checked - CKWW is in with its weak signal, sounds like there is about 1.3 Hz heterodyne w...

Re: The Most Complete Single Conductivity Study Of Northwest And Northern Lower Michigan

Interesting that page 2 proposes a frequency change from 1300 to 1310 for WOOD. Obviously a typo, though listeners either WCCW or WOOD would still fade away before any interference would be noted by a common listener. I've been suspecting for decades that the entire run of M-115 (Clare to Frankfort)...

Re: America's Truckin Network cancelled

Force, it is just an overnight call in show now with someone who is cheaper to pay than Steve. Satellite would make sense but I am not sure how many semi trucks have access to it. newer ones sure, but there are a lot of older trucks on the road. Every TA, Pilot, and Love's sells satellite radios. T...

Didn't WJR carry something like this?
They used to carry WBAP's overnight show in the mid nineties, along with one or two more Class A blowtorches.

It's like WUDT doesn't plan to move to 8 unless they are forced off 23.
WUDT is YOOGE!
Our move to Channel 8 is fake news.
They'll be no transition to Channel 8.

Re: DX in reverse?

Sunday,at around 1:15,while listening to 98.9 WEMP over the Tune in app,the music I was hearing suddenly was replaced by a statical signal from the Air One network.Tried to listen TOH ID at 2 PM but the static became to great plus, I was working in a noisy environment. I have no clue wether or not ...

Re: Downriver AM transmitters

WRDT- do they have to service their COL? Such a null to the south and night time in another county- could they change their COL from Monroe to service Metro Detroit (that is, when they were Honey Radio and had a lot of devoted listeners)? Were they originally a daytimer and why the 13W at night? WR...

Re: Distant stations on local AMs

I can still hear AM 630 CFCO in Chatham, Ontario (Country station) from my place in Sanford, Michigan (near Midland, MI)!!! CFCO really gets out. They're on excellent ground, and at a low frequency. They caught a lucky break when a protected station in the Minneapolis area lost its site and was bri...

Re: Do BLM even to Blacks?

Maybe I can help with this. First time poster, long time lurker. I'm black, early 40's, grew up broke in the hood (48224) and got out. I understand how the BLM movement got so big. When people are angry, opportunists can seize the anger of the crowd, point their finger at something or someone and u...
