Re: CHYR Radio 7 Canada

I remember CHYR 710 blasting into Grand Rapids, MI every day in the '66-'72 era! It was even stronger than WJR's signal, which was pretty decent. Could never hear the night signal when they'd 'jump' to 730, though. CFCO on 630 was another 'long haul' to Grand Rapids in daytime with a good strength....

Re: RIP Jerome the Giraffe and Rust the Rooster

The show was on CH9 Windsor, so there are a few 50-somethings in Toledo that know that recorder song as the drawbridge goes up and down and the Friendly Giant invites you to pick a chair.... speaking of which, is that a specific song and is there a copy of it somewhere? It is a very old English fol...

1460 is stronger than it was, but it's still weak and you can still hear cochannel beats. I doubt that it's more than 0.5 mV/m at the very most in the major lobe.
At what distance?

I certainly hope that's not at 1km!

Re: WWJ signal problems?

Yeah, I'm in White Lake, and WWJ has been very inconsistent lately. Barely listenable in the early morning hours before the sixth antenna turns on. It's much clearer when I get to Novi where I work, but still not as good as it used to be Also, my car's A/C is interfering with AM lately, not sure wh...

Re: CTV News Windsor

Lately I've been watching a lot of CHWI 16, just out of sheer curiosity, and because of the fact that I can. And I must say, the picture quality on their newscasts is absolutely horrible. The station's digital channel is transmitted in 1080i, but the newscasts look like they're filmed on a standard...

When will CICO-32 return to virtual channel 32.1, even though they're on RF 19 now?
Never.

They moved from channel 32 to channel 19 because WDIV will move to 32 in a few months.

Re: WHNE STA

I don't like the fact that they're giving up circular polarization for elliptical.

On VHF-low, indoor antenna users need as much vertical signal as they can get.

Re: Andy Stuart out?

Picture from the Toledo Blade article today shows the paper can't be bothered by sending someone out to take a current picture. https://www.toledoblade.com/image/2019/10/02/1140x_a10-7_cTC/FEA-stuart25.jpg To be fair, it's credited as "Cumulus Radio building on Arlington Avenue in Toledo, Thursday,...

Re: WTOL may be removing MeTV

WOHO, I'm using an antenna also, and I agree with you about most the problems. To make tuning in even more confusing, on 2 of my sets, a while back 48.1 began coming in on 36.3, 48.2 on 36.4, 48.3 on 36.5 and 48.4 on 36.6. But now I can get closed captioning on three of their channels. I also notic...

Re: WTOL may be removing MeTV

Wonder if WLMB channel 40 would be interested in picking up MeTV. Seems like a good fit for them, since they air similar shows to MeTV, when they're not airing religious programming. They only have one subchannel, "Radiant TV" last I checked, so perhaps MeTV could be on 40-3. It seems to be a perfe...

Re: Stunting idea

I've been dreaming about a stunt forever, especially appropriate for a station leaving the AOR format. A caller calls in (already set up) and requests the apocryphal "Long Version" of " Stairway to Heaven" . DJ cues Neil Sedaka's Stairway to heaven. That song has three long rests - join the last re...
