Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style

The real waste was moving CBEFT to DT channel 35 (IIRC), only to operate it for less than a year!!!

Re: CKLW-FM/CIDR's Original Transmitter Site

Don't know if this will help readers - or totally mislead them, but I do remember that downtown Windsor had a skyscraper hotel called the Viscount, that only lasted a few years.

It did have a lighted tower on its top, which may have held the antenna of either CKWW-FM (88.7) or perhaps CKLW-FM (93.9).

Re: Antenna TV gone?

WMYD-TV 20 Detroit and it's subchannels are only available on Buckeye Broadband on the Michigan side of the border, namely Bedford township. Yep, Bedford Township is practically the furthest Buckeye can offer the Detroit channels these days (and I'm about a half mile from the state line). Just curi...

Re: Antenna TV gone?

Interesting prospect; dead dog Channel 5 (WLMB 40) was a cheaper way to go with VHF-LOW band, but has crappy coverage, 48 (WMNT/36) is surprising decent, if they just had an engineer worth a sheet - so what's up with the future of Antenna TV and COZI, the two subchannels worth saving? I wonder how ...

A Bay Area punk band named The Pathogens have just released a song entitled Quarantine. Timely.
Reminds me of Jungle Fever by the Chakachas.

Or perhaps "Leader of the Laundromat" by The Detergents.

Re: WOTV Post Repack

I'm not able to check right now but should be able to later this week. I did see the update online so I've been itching to try it out. Based on the documents and my strong reception of WZPX, I have high expectations for the new WOTV signal. I just wish WWMT could be better out here. Milwaukee chann...

Re: Old WJR Radio Guide

In the eighties, I loved getting these pamphlets at Big Boy. Back then, our family was going to Platte Lake every summer, and I always had a radio and earphones with me. This was how I learned that 1000 watts up north was worth 50 watts downstate. Interesting that they included "WFXZ" on 1030. That ...

Re: AM reception question

I have a GE Superadio in my kitchen that I use mainly to listen to WWJ. The signal almost always has a buzz or static. In particular, there's a fluorescent light in the kitchen that puts out so much interference that it renders the radio unlistenable on the AM band, even if I have the radio out on ...

Re: AM reception question

Time to sunset AM radio. It’s becoming more useless as more electronic devices are being used. The FCC should consider a mandate to shut all AM stations off by 2035. Create a new FM band for AM stations to move onto that band. A sentiment expressed by some, but provides no assistance to the OP, see...

Re: Antenna TV gone?

Something's way off here. Not quite sure if WMNT just does not care, is a tax write-off, or if they are purposely trying to get away with murder. If I owned the station and no longer care about its operation, I would FedEx the license to Washington for cancellation and sell the equipment on eBay. I...

Re: Retro TV WHNE

I've seen no sign of W06DE, the Toledo LPTV that had bought the remains of the former W38DH. I wonder when W06DE's CP will expire. Perhaps WHND-LP could buy W06DE's CP and move it. A lowband TV antenna usually has more gain at channel 6 as it would at Channel 3. I suspect W06DE has walked away from ...

Re: CKOT 1510

Is 1510 still a valid Canadian frequency since there are so damn many 1520's in the States? In my experience, the Canadian AM allotments in the Region II Database are never removed except with replacement with an equivalent allotment. Many US AM allotments have been removed from the Region II Datab...

As I've pointed out before, Canada will refuse any new broadcasting franchise unless they can prove that the new franchise will not divert one listener away from any existing station.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge now on in Detroit

I share Matt's sentiments. This is the second POS station in Detroit that carried his show. The first was 94.3 The Bone, which left the air permanently less than two weeks after he was added. Who was the owner of “The Bone 94.3“ and “The Oasis 104.7”? I know it was in 2011. Oasis exposed the hypocr...
