Re: Will 98.3 in Monroe Re-brand or Flip?
More info on broadcast signal patterns can be found at www.radio-locator.com. And, the WCSM broadcast pattern shows no null toward Monroe. Again, other conditions could affect their signal in that area. According to the Radio-Locator drawing, it appears the WCSX primary signal weakens toward Monroe...

Re: WWJ AM not broadcasting in HD Radio
"HD Radio" for AM was nothing more than a shallow response to AM broadcasters, without an FM facility, asking "what about us?" It was a stupid system, adding white noise to the broadcast, even if the signal were 100mV/m. At night, powerful AM "HD" signals trampled on the AM signals when night fell. ...

Re: Toledo Station For Sale
I wonder why WJYM (if that's who we're talking about) doesn't open up its signal up north? There is no CHYR anymore, so who do they have to protect, short of first adjacent WGN? Did not know about the 106.9 translator, which sucks, because that is about the only clear frequency you can use for an F...

Not to mention that most viewers had no idea that channel 57->25 existed, because their channel knobs maxed out at channel 13.

Re: Will 98.3 in Monroe Re-brand or Flip?
Why not keep the "Nash" name, is it copyrighted or something? Probably, but by only it's current owners. I think Classic Country is the only way for that station to go. It's a tough nut being in Monroe, and trying for Toledo audience. Tower-98 tried to do it for years, and didn't seem too successfu...

Re: Will 98.3 in Monroe Re-brand or Flip?
If my memory is correct, they didn't move the transmitter to Luna Pier. They moved the city of license to Luna Pier. That allowed them to move the transmitter itself to Toledo (on K100's tower). But they needed to use a directional antenna that lowered the signal over Toledo to protect WDFM Defianc...

The WWV Song (5-10-15-20-25-30...). Actually, they did operate on 30 MHz (and 35 MHz ) until 1953. When they do their "TOH" ID, I always expect them to break into this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEh4clWpFNQ&feature=emb_logo I know they dropped the 25MHz transmitter for a while, but now i...

Re: Using 75 ohm CCTV coax for ham radio
There's been an on going off and on discussion with a few ham friends about the following: One of them has a hefty spool of high quality 75 ohm CATV outdoor coax left at their house by Comcast. I guess the stuff cost a bit per foot from what he says. Anyway, he wants to use it for ham radio. Some s...

Wouldn't that array deliver 400kw at NYC?
(when you double the field strength, you fourfold the the ERP, no?).

Of note, the Detroit market now has its first diplex operation.
WCXI and WPON are using the same set of towers.

WNZK during Crystal Mayo's Motown and a cup-of-joe show.
I think they had to leave the building out of COVID concerns, so she's possibly doing the show from her home.
Distortion and clipping in the extreme.

I wish I had a computer and a program for calculating coverage curves.
I wonder what a station on the west coast of Bermuda, with two quarterwave towers, 100kW, 153kHz, beamed at NYC, would look like on a coverage map.
Of course, I know this could never happen.

Re: 4 Country Stations in Detroit-Windsor
The signal for 106.7 bites from telegraph across to beech Daly and from about 8-1/2 down to about I-96 Makes it impossible to listen to mostly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Is that over a wide area, or just along I-96 on the West side of town? I'm thinking there are RITOIE issues in that area...

Re: SCA Detroit stations
In the late 1980s, I had an AM car radio, and an "FM Converter" (more accurately an FM receiver/AM modulator)
I could hear SCA content at 1333kHz or 1467kHz through it.
