Re: Oldies Stations
You all forgot about CKWW? Biggest problem is the cancon law which throws in a bunch of songs listeners on this side of the border dont know or want. Its also on AM, which no one listens to and reception is bad. If it was moved to FM with a few tweaks to the playlist, that would be an easy way to g...

Re: Winter Sporadic E? Pirate? Spanish on 94.1 SE Michigan
I have no idea what you heard on 94.1, but there IS a secondary sporadic-E season, and we are coming into it. Sporadic-E is most likely and most prominent on the solstices (near June 22 and December 22). The winter Es season is generally shorter and not as strong as the summer season, but it sometim...

Re: another WPON update
Not particularly an update of WPON, rather of Google Earth. They recently updated the aerial view of parts of Oakland County. The April 2017 image has been replaced with a July 2018 image. Instead of piles of antenna hardware, you can see seven standing towers . WPON is actually the icing on the cak...

Re: If WDET was sold to a Commercial Broadcaster.
If WDET were to be sold, the eastern portion of the Detroit area (out of range of WUOM) could lose a station that has some intelligent (if, perhaps, a tiny bit tilted) discussion.
Grammar could suffer.

Re: 1310 Translator and Cars 108
I cant help but wonder if W300DI is where the license would place it. It seems to have a better signal at W vernor and Clark than they have at I-96 & Evergreen. To be sure, receiver overload/intermod could be much worse at the site than W Vernor, where the only strong signals are the Windsor and Dow...

WNWO (NBC 24 Toledo) on RF 23
WNWO is currently being seen on RF 23, carrying all four programs (NBC, Stadium, Comet and TBD). I believe this is transmitted from the WTVG tower, significantly below the top, based on a granted STA. As I type this, the same is still being transmitted on RF 49 as well, from WNWO's own tower (WNWO h...

TV channel 2, Baton Rouge. Frequent sporadic-E catch before the transition, it was at just the right distance for Es.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 21, 2018 8:44 pmWhat about WDEZ

Re: New News Channel coming to WHNE 14.9
I have an antenna in attic and have no problem whatsoever, the problem is the TV station it’s a low power station and just naturally is limited to a small footprint for coverage area my question is why so many subs even full power stations don’t have 9 subs. They can do many subs because they do no...

Re: New Oldies Format Station in Chicago
Arthur Momenter mentioned the 104.7 translator that was co-channel to WIOT. I had a strong signal from that translator when I was working on Detroit's East Side. That translator had been on the air for a long tome (I believe more than a year), retransmitting classical/jazz-formatted WRCJ 90.9 (usele...

Re: New Oldies Format Station in Chicago
Would an FM oldies station still work here in Detroit ? I mean, I know advertisers dislike that age group, but age 55+ are NOT the only age group that enjoys 50s and 60s music. That's what they don't seem to be able to comprehend. I remember, I believe it was the early nineties, when WOMC was playi...

Re: WKBD 50
My guess is that they will be broadcasting in the evenings when viewership is higher and noone will want to work 1000' in the air in the cold and dark. Sad thing is, the interruption is not necessary. They also own WWJ-TV 62(44). They could have used WWJ-TV to transmit a temporary subchannel on phys...

Re: WKBD 50
Just checked WKBD. It seems they've been off at least 12 hours. Others reported a brief outage over the weekend. One thing I did not know was that WDWO was on that candleabra. I still thought they were at the Capitol Rd site (near 103.5's TL) I wonder what they're working on. No Detroit market stati...

Re: Predictions for 2019
Would be cool if La Zeta had WLQV's facility (its signal is strong in Southwest Detroit), WLQV took the WDFN facility (superior daytime coverage), and 1310 could be paired with 1340 to complement each other's coverage.
