Re: Misheard Song Lyrics

way back in 1983-84, during the brief venture of 1430 Mount Clemens as WWHK with adult standards, my father and I were listening as they played "That Old Master Painter" by Dick Haymes (1950). Dad, who was serving in the USMC at that time, said everyone heard something other than Master Painter in s...

Was able to pick up WTOL and WTVG for a bit this morning too.
Shortly after mjdnight, WTVG suddenly dropped out in the middle of a "Mike and Molly" episode. In its vacuum, I was able to log CKCO and WZZM.

Re: Holy Winter Tropo Blasters!

I'm sorry. I cannot take a photo of audio! I don't think that has quite been invented yet!! (This is why we take recordings of audio!) <snip> If you went to a cinema anytime before the digital cinema era, you heard the photo of the audio! Professional sound movie prints had a photorecoding of the m...

1270 sounds real good now.
Real good?

Did they ditch the Din of Ibiquity and open the analog to 10kHz?

Re: I-heart Launches sports station in Milwaukee

Interesting,Brian do you think it could happen in Detroit maybe WDFN FM 106.7 and be rid of AM 1130 maybe sell it or shut it off and sell the land where the AM towers are. What do you think? 1130's array is in an industrial area, and Vreeland Road is lightly travelled with no retail along it. I dou...

Re: CFCO 630 in late 60’s

I did hear obituaries on CFCO in the mid-2000-naughts when they were oldies.

Years earlier, my wife and I, on vacation, were listening to WNTT, Tazewell, TN (1250), when they finished their news. They announced four obituaries, two of which were for people who passed away in Monroe, MI.

Re: Country 600 North Bay

I heard "Country 600" about 30 minutes after my local sunset the other day, clobbering Urbano Noris, Cuba. I'm assuming it's almost certainly North Bay. Would be new to me if it's them. I'm guessing that either their pattern is out if whack, their clock was not reset for EST, or they loosened their ...

Re: CKLW’s Influences On Toledo and Cleveland Ratings

I've heard/read more than once that CKLW did reach #1 rank in Cleveland in some form in the 1960s. I do remember hearing commercials for department stores in Cleveland (and Erie, PA!) back in the day. Not sure how well they did in Toledo. They were certainly strong enough there during the day, but ...

Re: WHNE channel 14

The Zenith, and older clones branded "Insignia", are the favorite of DXers. They have a manual tuning mode where you toggle between actual RF channels. Sansonic and Zinwell also have manual tuning. The Digital Stream (Radio Shack) boxes have random access manual tuning. Pressing the dot (.) key foll...

Re: WHNE channel 14

I use a 150-mile range antenna on a 25-ft tower. I should be able to receive LPTV from Orlando with this thing. LOL 150 mile antennas are absolute BS. You got scammed Very true. Broader statement: you'd do best to ignore any claim on "range". It's completely subjective, nobody is there to question ...

Re: WHNE channel 14

Out of curiosity, how many watts is WHNE? I have a hard time receiving it in Livonia. I'm surprised you'd have trouble receiving them in Livonia. Granted, 15kW is not very much power, but you're not far away. Are you using an indoor antenna in a room that is neither in the attic nor in an East-faci...

Re: Oldies Stations

I don't have the Canadian regs in front of me as I type this, but Canada has, for decades, regulated broadcast content and demanded an outline of what styles of programming a station intends to broadcast. It's not like the US, where one is free to change content at will once they have a station. One...
