Re: "30 Rock: A one-time special"

I'm a fan of 30 Rock and have the set on DVD. I'm not understanding why NBC affiliates are refusing to air the special. The big owners thought since this special was to promote Peacock, it was going to cut into their profits. As the entire "commercial free" hour was designed to promote Peacock, the...

Re: Palace explodes

The airport is where it's at and the only competition is Toledo and Flint. The Palace was easily accessible to maybe 10% of the metro Detroit population and had the newer LCA, centrally located, competing for shows, events and paying spectators. Sadly looks like LCA will be shuttered for a while. T...

Re: The Palace

Getting out of The Palace wasn't bad at all if you knew (a) where to park in the parking lot (northeast portion was best; southwest portion was worst) and (b) were familiar with the secondary roads in the area. Multiple times, I exited via Harmon Rd., and once I reached Giddings Rd to make a left t...

The Palace

Random thought on a random night: Anyone else miss the Palace? Who knows when live, attended sports or concerts might actually return, but when I find myself reminiscing back to live events I have attended in the past, I often think back to trips I made to the Palace. I just really enjoyed that buil...

Re: Best/worst announcers of all time.

I think the worst color commentator of all time was Dennis Miller when he was on MNF from 2000-2001. He was pretty much panned for his unfunny jokes and was let go after one season. Two seasons, I believe. Miller, and Dan Fouts, were Al Michaels’ sidekicks in the booth for both 2000 and 2001, befor...

Nothing loses my vote faster than preempting Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Re: Will history repeat itself? (Network switch)

Gee, do you think anything is possible? Considering you’ve said it 4 times in this thread, I’m going to go out in a limb and say that you do. Okay, on that basis, the DuMont Television Network wills itself back into existence 63 years after going bankrupt. They purchase channel 4, and force NBC onto...

I actually thought this subject heading was going to have something to do with Jay Towers.

Re: Arrow And Good Place Series Finales

I watched the first season of The Good Place, thought it was pretty stupid. Now it seems like every critic and everyone on social media loves the show. Not sure if it got better, or maybe it was just never my cup of tea.

But at times he can be so damn condescending. I'll never forget the time Charlie Leduff put him in his place on the podcast. Overall ...

Re: What happened to Maz on the DMP?

I love Maz on the DMP. His 60s references, pop culture stuff, etc., are a hoot. He's the perfect fall guy when things go wrong. Drew should bring him back. He's the perfect comic foil. I feel like Maz is both the most beloved and most disliked person on the show. There does not seem to be much in b...

Re: What happened to Maz on the DMP?

I actually liked Tom on Drew's podcast, the Tuesday show was usually my favorite of the week. I'll still listen but something about that guy made the show fun. I completely agree. Tom was easily my favorite non-Drew person on the show. He always cracked me up, love his Frank Beckmann stories. The T...

Re: Hockey Night In Canada Apologizes For Don Cherry's Racist Rant

Did Don simply say that he wishes more immigrants wore poppies? Forgive me, I haven’t seen an exact quote. I don’t find that particularly xenophobic or racist. It’s an old guy wishing the new generation was more appreciative of prior sacrifices. I’m sure many people are supportive of veterans withou...

I totally agree! Bernie is the worst. Jamie is so much more pleasant to watch.

My preference is when Steve Garagiola covers the sports shift.
