Re: Jamie Samuelsen

No one at 97.1 talked in any positive light or any optimistic tones about Jamie's fight with cancer, Jamie knew, in turn staff @ 97.1 were told, but he did pass quickly , after revealing last Monday about his struggles...so sad, one of the better on-air talking heads, and an all around decent man......

100% agree with joe60. What an unnecessary post. Show some respect.
Agreed, I should have worded it differently, I am just repeating what I have heard from the 97.1 on air voices and none of them sound optimistic...

Re: 97.1 Mornings...

Jamie came on (from home) today to announce he's been battling colon cancer since January 2019. He sounds so wiped out. I thought maybe he had COVID-19. Jamie is a really good guy, I hope he recovers from this. I was very saddened to hear this about "the big headed kid" this morning, I like Jamie, ...

97.1 Mornings...

If Jeff Riger is on again and either Stoney or Jamie "have the day off", I am gonna tear down the transmission towers myself...

The "New" Mike Valenti Show on 97.1

I always have been a Valenti fan, but apparently he has changed his show, to the "Doom & Gloom" show, as he has for the last few weeks have been telling us how college football will not happen, if you send your kids to school in Sep, they will immediately be infected with Covid-19 and won't make it ...

Re: 1130 "The Fan" to disappear- iHeart launching new network

If we’re being honest Sports Radio on DFN died in 2009. Still sad to see and what an embarrassment for a great sports city like Detroit to have one mediocre sports station that I for one haven’t listened to in 2 years. I’m curious if we will ever get a decent sports station here but either way I’m ...

Re: The Ghost Of Bill Kennedy

I remember she had a call-in segment on Prize Movie where viewers could win a daily, growing jackpot if they could identify a few bars of a song she would play. To my then-young ears at least, the songs were very obscure. Yup I think you are right, I just have vivid memories of my mom in the mornin...

Re: The Ghost Of Bill Kennedy

And was it Rita Bell who had Prize Movie on channel 7? It was. She hosted the show from 1960 to 1981. It seemed every Thanksgiving they'd show The Yogi Bear Movie, but I'm not 100 percent sure on that. Also the Bing Crosby Bob Hope Road Movies seemed to be on a lot. I remember Rita Bell, my mom was...

My main memory of Bill Kennedy is from sitting in front of the TV on winter afternoons after school, just wishing his program would finally end so the cartoons would start

HaHa!! I remember those days well...I was the same way, "get off the TV old man I wanna watch The Flintstones...

Re: Bogey out at 97.1

I noticed a few on air folks at 97.1 actually got to say goodbye and express their opinion on Bogey's departure (Valenti, Wojo, Jamie & Stoney), I remember back years ago when a local DJ was fired/quit a radio station, it was like that person never existed. None of the other jocks would mention what...

Re: Larry Adderley passes away

Thanks. Very sad news about Don. I remember he got hit hard on the sidelines covering a U-M game. And I’m recalling he may have also gotten hit hard on a Dare Don challenge. I wonder the extent to which this would’ve caused or contributed to his current condition. I believe it was Chris Speilman wh...

Larry Adderley passes away

Adderley, a long-time broadcaster of Michigan and Detroit sports who went on to become one of the state's biggest golf boosters, died Dec. 20, 2019, after a long battle with dementia. He was 82. (Apparently he was so private there was no obituary, funeral services or announcement of his death till n...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

If I hear Bohemian Rhapsody one more time on WLLZ , I'm going to kick 'em off my preset Easily one of the Top 10 most over-played songs in FM/Satellite Rock/Classic Rock formats history. If I started a Hall Of Fame of most overplayed tunes in Pop/Rock history, "Bohemian Rhapsody" would be a 1st bal...
