Re: 80s, 90s, and now?

The problem with this is that 80s music has absolutely no resemblance to the music of "today," and I find it hard to believe that the same audience would tune in for both of these styles. Also, still stunned that Saginaw/Bay City doesn't have a true "Classic Hits" station. Since WHNN fucked itself ...

Re: Dam failures

DAC: you’re absolutely right. Stations used to have training materials for new journalists to acclimate them to a new market, which used to include pronunciations for unusual town names. Sadly, these days journalists are lucky to get a five minute tour of the station where they’re shown the bathroo...

Re: 80s, 90s, and now?

WCBY 1240 AM had the "Music of Your Life" format in the 90s with the slogan "Playing the music you remember" kind of fitting for music of the last 30 years I'd say LOL As I recall, that slogan was only used at the hour ID. "Playing the music you remember. 1240, WCBY Cheboygan." And then ABC News Bri...

My dad said with as much as the ash blocked out the sun and mixed into the jet stream, caused lower temps and it snowed in June and July in Northern Michigan.

Re: Dam failures

Good Morning America led their broadcast this morning with coverage of the flooding. CNN did an extended piece too. 7 and 4, aren't they northern Michigan, like Traverse City area? Good for them, shame on TV 5, 12 and 25. Yes, but 7&4 and 9&10 typically do overlap coverage into Midland, sometimes i...

AND, not one of those stupid fuckers at 5 know how to pronounce "Tittabawassee." C'mon, really? It is NOT Tib-ah-dah-wasee. But they say it that way. Every. Fucking. Time. I guess they better stick to one syllable words, like "Cher." My grandfather used to say.. "stick with what you're good at." An...

Those were the glory days. NBC ruled with comedies and I always loved that News 5 music and graphics. Everything seemed so much more polished and professional back then. Today? Ugh.
I think that of a LOT of graphics from various stations. There was some pretty cool stuff in the 90s.

Not sure why the FCC just doesn’t break up Sinclair and company. It’s clear they don’t follow the rules and don’t serve the public interest.
Because larger companies bring in a much bigger payday for fines...

Re: TV internet precursor

A little trivia: In some of the early cable franchise agreements (Detroit City in particular) there was a requirement that the cable operator had to provide, upon request of the subscriber, an "A/B switch" or similar disconnect device between the cable and the set top box or the cable and the telev...
