Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style

The real waste was moving CBEFT to DT channel 35 (IIRC), only to operate it for less than a year!!! I think it was analog 35, but it did move from 54 in 2011 CBEFT never was in digital, as the CBC planned on shuttering its repeater network instead of converting to digital, regardless of market size...

OAN is a far right (even more conservative than Fox News) cable operation — Similar to Steve Bannon’s NewsMax channel.
Actually, OAN is even farther right than Newsmax, and has since replaced Fox News as Trump's favorite:

Today, Sinclair still doesn’t have a national newscast — only little watched political shows like Full Measure and America This Week.
They did try a hybrid national / local newscast that aired in 12 markets from 2002 to 2006:

Re: WOTV Post Repack

I've been thinking of pointing a spare attic antenna west to see how reliable Milwaukee and Green Bay can be here. Back in the analog days they were actually pretty reliable this time of year. Even a portable TV with a single rabbit ear could sometimes pull from across the lake. I once had steady s...

Re: Old WJR Radio Guide

Along the same token, I also remember around the late-1980s or early-1990s a radio atlas of Michigan, which featured radio stations by format and their range of coverage. Stores such as the defunct Action Auto had them for free. The big flaw was that it not only neglected most of the UP, but it did ...

None Shall Pass , if you, like many others, are using an ad blocker. If they follow typical behavior, in short time, more and more of the "good stuff" will get moved behind that paywall. Considering the crappy ads that I see either without a blocker, or dodging a blocker (such as "one weird tricks"...

Re: Slogans not matching stations

In early 2010s, Tampa Bay's "Play 98.7" carried a Top 40 format, with a slogan of something like "Today's Hits, Without The Rap". Around 2012, shortly before switching to an all-sports format, they still used this slogan, but one time, immediately after a liner said "Today's Hits, Without The Rap" -...

Re: Antenna TV gone?

As for Judge shows during the day, gay content on them would also be a sin, since SCOTUS includes "alternative lifestyles" and LGBTQAI programming is part of the norm. That, plus the "fact" that only God can judge, and WLMB does not want any mortal judges (other than His "representatives", a.k.a "t...

Re: Free Press & News putting up paywall on Aug 12

All the MLive print editions are going to Cleveland for printing. They will close the press in Grand Rapids in October. Depending on where you live, your paper will be five or six hours old by the time you receive it. Or more -- depending on how long it would take to travel on the Turnpike. This wi...

Elvis' "Suspicious Minds":

Elvis:
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see the tears are real, I'm crying

Backup:
Yes, I'm crying

The backup's response I always heard as "It's a crime".

Re: More bad financial decisions by Sinclair

New report says 25-66 owner Sinclair Broadcasting will lose about $130-million this year just in its regional sports channels (Fox Sports Detroit and others). Let me get this straight: you are AGAIN bitching about your employer; this time because they didn't anticipate covid??? I imagine all sector...

Re: "30 Rock: A one-time special"

I'm a fan of 30 Rock and have the set on DVD. I'm not understanding why NBC affiliates are refusing to air the special. The big owners thought since this special was to promote Peacock, it was going to cut into their profits. As the entire "commercial free" hour was designed to promote Peacock, the...

Re: 30 Rock Special preempted

Ironically, despite being what started this thread, WEYI ended up airing it at it's normal time. -WPBN/WTOM (Sinclair, Traverse City/Alpena) and WNWO (Sinclair, Toledo) aired two additional reruns of Family Feud. So apparently, WEYI was the only NBC affiliate in Michigan to show the special as sche...

Lovin: you’re wrong. Go take an employment law class.

If you’d like to buy out my contract to stop hearing my observations/grievances of SBG/25-66, send a check payable to “Cash” for $438,712.90 to PO Box 2566, Flint MI.
At that price, why not buy one of the stations outright?
