Re: CBSDetroit62

People have suggested that CBS re-brand WWJ as "CBS 15" (for its cable positions in Detroit and Windsor, which would be much more tolerable than 62)... though I think they really failed themselves by not getting onto a standardized cable position like 3 or 4 across the viewing area.... but even 44 ...

Hmm? I predict country is history on 94.7.
Why?
The NYC market was never a winning market for the country music format, and I believe Nash FM was no exception in terms of ratings.

Re: Switching to/from another station's signal for network s

The biggest benefactor of microwave hops in the 70's was undoubtedly WKBD. They were on practically every cable system in the state, and gained the rep as Michigan's "superstation". The Ludington Daily News is on Google News Archive (with TV guides included) and it looks like 'KBD was never carried...

Re: CMU Sells Flint WCMZ-TV In FCC Spectrum Auction

Channel 28 is redundant. Its redundant to WTVS, CBC and TVO in Detroit and its redundant to WDCQ in its own market. It will be interesting to see if Detroit cable systems keep the station in their line-ups. The same for TVO, now that they will be closing down all its transmitters, except for the fl...

Re: SNL and The Donald

I stopped watching SNL years ago myself, though mainly due to the quality of the comedy -- nothing to do with politics.

Chevy Chase doing Gerald Ford. Phil Hartman doing Reagan. Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton. Dana Carvey doing G. H. W. Bush. Will Ferrell as Dubya. Jay Pharoah as Obama. Tina Fey doing Palin. Since when did Alec Baldwin doing Trump become a "thing"? Lighten up, kid. You left out Dan Ackroyd as Jimmy...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

WSPD-TV (precursor of WTVG) did not air the original SNL's from 75-79... WNEM in Saginaw also didn't carry SNL ...Gerity Cable system in Bay City might have carried SNL on its local access / wild card channel, via Grand Rapids affiliate WOTV (today's WOOD). In Bay City, probably more likely WPBN or...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

WSPD-TV (precursor of WTVG) did not air the original SNL's from 75-79; a 'summary show' was the first time it was broadcast in Toledo. Had to rely on the rare times that Buckeye remembered to switch the CH4 feed from WSPD to WDIV (or was it that yet?). WNEM in Saginaw also didn't carry SNL until af...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

I'm already getting "shipped" confused with whatever new meme/slang is out there these days. The Movie is close to ten years old so some if it might be dated by now. It's a forgettable (in the US) 2008 British film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Lose_Friends_%26_Alienate_People_%28film%29 No...

Re: Detroit/Toledo Big Three schedule for 12/10/1980

As for Westinghouse and Metromedia, there could have been some FCC-mandated selloffs in many markets, due to regulations regarding station ownership at the time. In the case of Metromedia, the selloffs would be in New York City (WNEW and WNBC), Los Angeles (KTTV and KNBC) and Washington (WTTG and W...

Re: Detroit/Toledo Big Three schedule for 12/10/1980

There would be a long list of buyers for a network like NBC in 1980, who could have got it for a discount from RCA because of its lagging primetime. Potential buyers then could have included movie studios like Paramount (Gulf+Western), Universal (MCA) or Fox, conglomerates like GE, AT&T or ITT or a...

Re: Detroit/Toledo Big Three schedule for 12/10/1980

WDHO Channel 24 (ABC) 7:30: The Benny Hill Show (WDHO) I've never heard of Benny Hill being aired during a daytime slot, (to many women losing their clothes.) In the Tampa Bay area around this time, WTVT showed Benny Hill Saturday nights at 7:30PM, right after Dance Fever and before CBS's Saturday ...

Re: Detroit/Toledo Big Three schedule for 12/10/1980

4 PM: Carol Burnett and Friends (actually The Carol Burnett Show ) (WJBK) I believe it was the first year of the show, a showcase of sketches from "The Carol Burnett Show", on WJBK - up until the previous season, it was seen in Detroit on CBET. 10 PM: All in the Family (WDIV, preempted NBC's Number...
