Re: Difficult To Watch BBC Programmes In America
So how does the British government know if you are illegally watching OTA broadcasts? How is this enforced? Is there something in the TV that won't let you watch if you're not licensed? You can still use your TV in the UK, but the BBC has a fleet of vans that roam around the UK, detecting who's wat...

Re: WNWO last night during SNL.
WNWO in recent days had made the old WDHO look good.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 9:57 pmWNWO is extremely low tech. I still think 48 is the worst technical-wise. 24 is a very close second though. This is not the first time 24's had technical problems recently. It ought to be a small-market station.

Re: WNWO last night during SNL.
Because to Sinclair, Toledo IS a smaller market. WNDU in South Bend has higher priority.... Unless there was a hostile takeover or a sale that I did not hear about... NBC 16 (WNDU - This is home!) is not Sinclair. Fox 28 and CBS 22 are. Actually, WSBT now carries Fox on its 22.2 subchannel. WSJV, t...

WSBT is the Sinclair-owned station in South Bend, affiliated with CBS and Fox.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 9:19 pmWNDU is not owned by Sinclair, but rather by Gray, which owns WTVG.CurlyHoward wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 8:33 pmBecause to Sinclair, Toledo IS a smaller market. Re: Multiple City IDs Past, More Recent, and Present
Back in the early days of radio, stations IDed with their transmitter location. One of the more famous ones was WJJD Mooseheart, where the T antenna was located, at the Loyal Order Of Moose Headquarters. That actually makes more sense to use the transmitter location. The idea of just serving one to...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations
It was Making It with Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman that was preempted. Its like American idol or one of the baking shows where contestants make arts and crafts and one gets voted off the show each week. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Not to be confused with "Makin' It", a disco-flavored sitcom flop from 40 ...

Re: Multiple City IDs Past, More Recent, and Present
Some examples of the old IDs. 12-WJRT-TV Flint Saginaw Bay City WSMH channel 66 also used "Flint / Saginaw / Bay City" in its IDs. 100.3 WHTZ Newark New York (slurred to sound like New York New York) Not to be confused with Newark, New York state -- a village near Rochester. While WHTZ's ID would p...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations
I often ponder why, instead of not showing the shows that get pre-empted, WDIV don't move them to 4-2 or 4-3 at the same time. Maybe they fear everyone will just change channels and not watch what they have replaced it with. Exactly -- they did not want to compete with themselves by putting its nor...

Too bad it's not a heavy hitter like Univision (which Detroit had two different affiliates in the past) or Telemundo (which never affiliated in Detroit). Some Guy from Toledo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2019 8:39 pmWell at least Detroit has another Spanish language channel, for now.

Re: CTV News Windsor
Curiously, my Spectrum system serving Rockland and Central Maine offers Radio-Canada from CKSH Sherbrooke (as well as TVA outlet CHLT), but no English-language CBC, from CBMT or otherwise. Odd they wouldn't provide a CBC station, yet pick up Radio-Canada and TVA. Noticed this image while Googling a...

Re: RIP Jerome the Giraffe and Rust the Rooster
The show was on CH9 Windsor, so there are a few 50-somethings in Toledo that know that recorder song as the drawbridge goes up and down and the Friendly Giant invites you to pick a chair.... speaking of which, is that a specific song and is there a copy of it somewhere? Don't forget us 40-something...

Re: CTV News Windsor
I touched on this earlier, wondering why CBMT was so widely available on Michigan cable systems outside of the Detroit area - instead of CBET. I believe the answer basically boiled down to easy satellite availability of CBMT... At one time, I believe, CKLW-TV / CBET was distributed on the same micr...

Re: WTOL may be removing MeTV
Quite a few Sinclair stations carry Antenna TV, so there should be no reason not to pick it up.
