Re: DX 370
I had a desktop RadioShack SW rcvr for a long time. It was a DX3something. It had the digi display and was pretty good on SSB/CW and sounded good on AM for SW band BC listening. I took it camping lot and ran it on a 12 V rechargable battery.

Re: "Narrower" Band FM
The authorities came up with the devation for BCFM , for the best IF noise supression etc, using 1940's tech . It has been used so long, it's hard to make any major changes in spectrum use etc.

Re: searching for tramsmitter output power
Bobhuge & all, What kind of station are you looking at ? All the AM stations I look up show what must be transmitter output power, or in directional arrays it's the power delivered to a common point going to the array... FM is rated by ERP so you have to back up from a gain antenna system to get the...

Re: AM Radio might have 10 more years
A Radioworld.com article mentions this and brings up the all digital AM mode, which is rarely used. Although many say that HD Radio is almost dead, Xperi hasn't given up on it yet. They are even talking about improving the signal of the FM side, which often simulcasts existing AM broadcasts. https:...

Re: RadioLand FM app
I would love to see one for AM, maybe they can't factor in the stations with directional antennas ???
I found a radio travel guide where all the AM stations were represented with a circle based on power only.

Re: St Louis Super Tower
I did see the video on U-tube a few night ago, recalling the big tower sites from working in BC engr in Chicago and Detroit and Two way radio service across Michigan. I was in the middle of a transition from Analog to digi near the end of my carreer.

Re: Older Holiday Light String Tips
A few years ago I bought some of the new Fat L.E.D. strings, they have a large envelope of colored plastic with a tiny L.E.D. emitter inside them. They seemed to fail quickly outside when the temp went blow 20 Degrees. Working OK indoors. I tried to take the parts of the string apart and found about...

Here near the "City" there are repeater and LPFM signals filling all the breaks between full power stations and hard to hear any DX.

Re: Mini DXpedition
I shoud do that sometime, and set up my new IC7300 in the car and drive up the lakeshore, maybe to the campground north of Port Huron. Maybe the picnic site is better for less overhead wire and noise. I have watched the bandwidth of AMBC signals on the band monitor scope ! Lots of fun, but never bee...

Re: New digital converter
Any Way you can get an outdoor antenna connected,?
Not one of those amplified UHF jobs that are so popular, recently, they will not help for Ch 12 !
Indoor Rabbit ears are only good when you are right in the middle of an urban area near the TV transmitting towers.

Re: AM Radio might have 10 more years
I believe the Canadians can go well above 1 kW on the US "local" channels . here limited to 1 kW ND, 24 hours, on 1230, 1240, 1340, 1400, 1450 and 1490.
Used to be a night hours limit of 250 W but that was changed a few decades ago.

Re: AM Radio might have 10 more years
In LA, NYC, and Toronto AM will remain in use do to the fact that the FM spectrum is crowded and there is a significant Ethnic population in each city. In a city like Toledo for instance, I can see AM going away. Add Chicago to that list. Probably a few others. Toronto has a need so great they are ...
