Re: another WPON update
I wondered why I saw 7 towers on the WPON site ! If WCXI moves in there , I see how they could share some towers in a two station system !

Re: HD Noise Cancellers
That noise will be really hard to knock out. Pulse noise is easy to cancel with a pulse inverter but that iBOC is a very complex kind of white noise.

Re: another WPON update
Here it is at the end of November, Where is WPON ? I just finished a few radio contacts on 3.550 MHz and decided to check out 1.460 and did not hear anything local ! Tonight , it's just the Mexican music from Indiana and some sports talk show (maybe WBRN) and a third signal down under that, but I co...

Re: FRS
I have all the GMRS and FRS freqs programmed into my scanners, fun to listen when we go to the campgrounds in summer. Usually it's kids yelling "can you hear me ",....' "Yes I can hear you" and repeat this a dozen more times. There were quite few business users on GMRS repeaters 20 years ago but the...

[/quote] What I usually hear under WWJ is either Charleston WV or Habana Cuba, the latter very distinctive with its "di-dah-dit, di-dah-dit every minute (The signature of Radio Reloj, being "RR" in Morse code). Re: The MW DX Thread
Has anyone ever received XROK 80 from the other side of the border from El Paso I did many years ago when they did Top 40 they were the CK of Texas. When I was at Ft Bliss, in the Army (El Paso) I could hear XELO 800 on a toaster ! It was that strong. I found the tower site recently, on Google Eart...

Re: The MW DX Thread
The 160 Meter Amateur band is also considered MW, and last night I had very good reports in contacts with IL, DE, KY and KS.

Re: AM Band Scan.
WFDF is just a few miles further, has a higher IDF toward Commerce, and is on a lower frequency than WMUZ. WJR isn't that far either. WXYT is close also. WJR is 32.4 miles from here, WFDF is 36.6 miles from me and WXYT is 39.6 miles. WMUZ (AM) is only 31.1 miles away. Sometime soon I will have to r...

Re: Sony Walkman
I had a few of similar tiny Radio/casette players. They worked fairly well on FM , used the earfone cord as an antenna, but miserable on AM with no room for much ferrite loopstick inside, maybe could get 5 or 6 local stations.

Re: Metro Detroit CB
Now and then I tune thru the 11 Meter band to see if there are any signals. If I hear a lot of people screaming on many channels , I quickly retreat to ten or 12 Meter Ham bands and start calling CQs on CW ! :D So CB is A good place to check for any sporadic E-layer propagation. WWV is on 20 and 25 ...

Re: another WPON update
Looks like WKAM has a pretty good null toward the Detroit area on the night time pattern !! How can they get that pattern with only two towers ?
OK now I see the towers are on an E/W line.

Re: another WPON update
It has been a few months since I was near enough to the site to see if towers were up yet. With the trees and houses It's hard to see well. I could climb the fence and walk a half mile to get to the site., maybe walk down the RR tracks
