Re: What’s happened to WJW-TV??
WJW has been the solid leader in mornings for well over two decades. They took the lead at 10pm from WUAB in 1995 and have never looked back. Considering the limitations of WJW’s art department, they’ve done a good job with refreshing the graphics in 2015. It’s not perfect but is miles away better t...

Re: Day & Night at WDTW (AM)
The acceptance of that large of an augmentation is problematic to me. I noticed that a year or so ago. You do realize that there is only 5000 watts to radiate. If it's going South, there has to be a real reduction to the North, or somewhere, like above the horizon. I learned this from Carl Smith's ...

iHeart music stations are all centrally programmed, with the same music logs per format. This should not surprise anyone, that’s been the case since “Premium Choice” was initiated in January 2009.

Re: WQKL WPLJ Call Letter Swap (Speculation, But I'm Calling Art!)
The WPLJ call letters are important here because they are the brand. Cumulus is going to park them on a frequency somewhere, just so no other station in NYC or the suburbs can pick them up and brand themselves as “the NEW PLJ.” (Which is actually how the WKTU calls got resurrected after a ten-year a...

Re: Channel 7 Fake News
I hope people get rich by suing news outlets that report fake news. What justifies "fake news"? Something you don't like or makes you upset because a friend or a politician looks bad? Or is it coverage that is flawed or inaccurate because of a lack of editorial and/or quality control? Seth Rich's f...

Re: 100.7 Toledo line up change
To be blunt, I don’t see that trust unloading 106.5 at any point in the near-to-distant future. They don’t need to. Toledo is a market where they have economy of scale and a divestment wouldn’t be anywhere near as much as they’d get for WJR/DRQ/WDVD. Plus EMF is not under any pretense or hurry to ge...

Re: Milwaukee ratings
Both of their big powerhouse AM stations have taken a massive hit in the past year; sad. Post-midterm election fatigue. Simple as that. At some point, Craig K is gonna have to realize that he’ll have to simulcast WTMJ’s play-by-play — the Brewers, the Packers and the Bucks — on KTI. Only running Ma...

Re: Toledo radio Theory
Mary Berner made these deals last week as a tacit admission that Cumulus could not and cannot compete in the largest of markets where they had either an AM/FM duopoly, or not nearly enough to compete against Entercom or iHeart, who both have major advantages in economy of scale. If a cluster is poor...

Re: WPAY
EMF values a station based on the population it serves. Look at the signal contours of WPAY and the population within those contours. WPAY is for sale, but no one can afford it because WPAY hits a lot of people in the outermost parts of Detroit. Any successful buyer would have to overpay dearly, pro...

Re: WPLJ - now the home of God.
I still wonder if any of us would survive the shock of today's radio climate if we were transported from 1975 to today: once great double-digit ratings monster 50KW AM stations like WABC (WNBC) WLS and even WJR, are but a tiny speck of what they were before the 1996 death knell of mergermania. I wo...

Re: WPLJ - now the home of God.
Actually, 94.7 in NYC gets good ratings for the signal. It only has effective coverage of maybe two thirds of the market. I'd be willing to bet money Entercom finds a way to move the TX site to Manhattan within the next couple years. Biggest underachieving Nash station I can find is 94.1 Cincinnati...

Which means they'll slobber all over Trump as these reactionary religious nuts are won't to do,despite the P***y-Grabber-In-Chief's sordid behavior towards women . K-Love doesn’t make political editorials. And Air1’s recent reboot to worship music brought with it an “all are welcome” marketing camp...

Re: Cumulus stunner - two heritage Hot AC stations in major markets SOLD (note: WDVD not involved)
Excellent post; I cannot disagree with anything you wrote. They'll look to complete their exit from D.C. and New York sooner rather than later, and I agree L.A. is likely next. Will they also deal KRBE in Houston, one of the few heritage CHR stations Jan Jefferies managed not to screw up during his...
