Hmm.
I guess the equipment would be cheap, but 72-75 mHz would be a lot better choice.

Re: Mark Pennington joins The Bear for mornings
I listened for a very short while last week....there were a couple of morning show guys on that were saying "like" every other word, and as a result, sounded like a couple of 13 year old girls.

Re: HD Radio in northern Michigan
HD has it's technical coverage limitations, but at -14dBc or -10, the signal just was not designed to cover the 50 dBu area the analog main covers decently. It's not a DX sort of service.....it's rock solid in SE Michigan within 20 or 25 miles of most TX sites. My experimentation with a 2019 Yukon w...

Re: HD Radio in northern Michigan
The northern MI broadcasters abhor the concept of HD radio, much in the same way they only grudgingly accepted RDS....and many still don't have that. You can't even talk to them about it.....they have all sorts of misconceptions about it. That said, Ibiquity bobbled HD, and continues to do so. There...

Re: Radio Personality Dave Lockhart
Dave is a real gentleman; he and I were friends when I served 'NIC.
He was (is?) intensely private and did not seek the limelight in any form. I've lost touch with him over the many years, and like others in this thread, wish I could pick up where we left off. I don't think it is to be, though.

Re: Radio tower locations
Has there ever been a FM stick on the side of WJR? I WJR's main stick was home in the early 2000's to a FLO TV site for the short period while FLO was in service. The system was 'nationwide' and used the old TV Channel 55 allocation, which became available nationwide on an auction. Qualcomm bought ...

Re: Three Or More FM Stations In Michigan Using One Tower
The stick near 10 Mile and Greenfield in Oak Park, originally put up by Bob Liggett for 99.5. 1. WDRQ 93.1 2. WDKL 102.7 3. WDMK 105.9 Caution on that.....back at the time of construction, when Bob put it up and Harvey Deutch bought it (with the horrible FM blanketing going on in the neighborhood) ...

Methinks, Mark, you would not wish to have sentence executed upon you without due process.

I've quipped my entire career that there are two businesses whose property holdings typically exceed the value of the rest of the business: General aviation airports, and AM radio stations.

Re: Christmas music 2020
WWMK is running sort of a 'deep cuts' Christmas music thing....not the usual WNIC-like 22 songs. That said, it's a tune-out for me. I *like* Christmas music from about 2nd week of December on. WWMK ran 24/7 all year long in my barn, just to provide some background when I'm in there....but no more.

The removal of the old pylon and the installation of the new antenna with it's new extension pylon went very well. I’m recalling perceiving or reading in other filings or places that the old analog RF4 antenna will come down, with the new Dielectric RF16 one going up in its place. The channel 4 batwing came off the pole a long, long time ago....right after the DTV transition. I have had one of the bays behind m...

Re: Under Construction-100 Oldest Radio Stations In The US
I'm amazed by how many stations eventually gave up the 3 letter call sign.....what an incredibly foolish thing to do. Instant unique positioning in most markets with a 3 letter call.
