Agreed. Funny how threads can so easily take a 180 degree turn, isn't it?

Probably trying to prop up the bottom line and/or they plan to reallocate that money elsewhere in the budget. Perhaps the interim GM is trying to impress his superiors.

Would not surprise me to hear Kim on WCSG, JQ 99, or perhaps even WMUZ here in Detroit some day. Contemporary Christian music seems to be her forte.

Best of luck to Kim. She's still a well-respected lady. We all deserve the best and put our best foot forward, if you're still in the industry. It's just another budget cut...everything comes down to the almighty dollar. Sorry to say, and we probably all know (he's a rockstar as well), but maybe Shaffee rocked the boat. We're lucky they didn't flip to 100.5 Wendy Reed!

Very sorry to hear this news. I worked with Kim at Z95.5 in Detroit. She was same person off-air as she was on--warm, sincere and funny. I wish her nothing but the best for her future.

Do you even have a clue of what you just said?

He's alluding to the subpar jock who handles middays at sister station WLHT.
I suspect Kim's old shift will simply be covered by Tom Cook.

I, too, wonder if Kim's firing came about to make room in the budget to pay Shaffee, assuming he's making more than Dahmer did.

Did the lawn gnome, have any say over Kim's employment?

I'm guessing they'd mix like oil and water.

More than likely. Kim wasn't a promotions intern that could be impressed with the promise of an exciting career as a voice tracker. She had some moral values were the Gnome has screwed around with a couple of promotions assistants. Of course that's the rumor around 50 Monroe.

Expect Kid Krap gone soon from 95.7. Money is needed to cover Shaffee and a new morning show on 95.7. They'll fire another vet (Gene Parker??) and he'll bring up another to voice tracking from a promotions intern before this is over.

There is no content on WLHT that establishes a personal connection to the listener. Reading stories off the web and asking people to comment on the station's Facebook page doesn't cut it (only a small sliver of the audience will take the time to visit; vast majority of listeners simply aren't interested).

The "U-Mix-It" concept is moronic. No one is going to sit in front of their computer and radio for 60, 90, 120 minutes to see if the song(s) they voted on get played. This is an on-demand culture. There needs to be an outcome within the next 10 or 15 minutes; not 2 hours.

The playlist choices on WLHT are also questionable. They are playing too many soft/mid-tempo songs during the daytime (given the quasi-trendy position the station is trying to carve out for itself). At night, they are playing too much gold and overplay some of their 90's novelty songs.

They need to get a local morning show ASAP, be more aggressive on playing new music early, and revamp their gold categories. They cannot be as squeamish as they currently are with respect to playing modern rock crossover material with a little guitar in it. Seether, Green Day, and Pop Evil should not be off limits. Take some pointers from 101 WIXX in Green Bay in that regard. Such an approach would help WLHT become the P2 or P3 station for a greater slice of WGRD's P1s.

The production elements between songs are decent, but when the jocks crack the mic, their substance & delivery comes across as mundane and flat. Some sounders, occasional music beds, giveaways, anything would make those breaks sound better, even with some of the mediocre on-air talent WLHT has. Many of you know I've always been a fan of slick sounding production. I think it makes stations such as 106 KHQ up north, WOMC in Detroit, and WCSG in Grand Rapids really stand out.

WLHT ought to be a top 5 or top 7 station in 12+ AQH share and a top 5 station in P25-54 every book given its massive signal and resurgence of mainstream pop music. Anything less than that is underachieving and a sign of poor programming.

U-Mix it is just a cheap way so Clownsquare dont have to hire any on air talent.

What does any of this have to do with Kim Carson getting fired? Just sounds like a bunch of bitter comments towards Clownsquare for firing her. Lets turn this into another discussion then. You say UMix It or what ever they call it blows, then instanlty after say its an on demand culture. What is more on demand then people picking there songs then a bunch of out of market voice trackers or syndicates?

You do nothing but attack any station outside of CC any chance you get but let the mistakes any CC station does slide.
Seems a bit odd is all, who you fluffing over there? Wish I knew more about the management in that town so I could figure it out.

Too bad Kim was a victim of budget cutting at Townsquare. She will gain employment soon. She's too talented to sit on the sidelines for a lengthy time.
