Look, most of you know that I don't like some of the decisions the guy made. He was less than forthcoming at times. Treated some people well, treated others like shit. Then again, the same could be said of many people in management-level positions. Nothing unusual about that (unfortunately). Like many in the media sector, he had to make some very tough choices in response to increased competitive pressure and a declining revenue stream.

I am not blind to the fact the guy has a family and has been a high achiever in the past. I hate to see anyone waste their skills & abilities, even if they are a complete dick at times. If I wanted to piss on him, I'd come right out and say so in this post. Instead, I hope he gets his life back on track, leaves whatever personal demons he has behind, and conducts himself in a more ethical manner.

The list of talented radio folks who fell victim to his management style, budget constraints, whatever is way too long to list. Definitely have to put Tim Barron and Rich Michaels at or near the very top of that list. Mark Feurie ranks up there as well.

Hopefully, unlike Detroit's former mayor, Hanjob learns from this experience.

#8 Dave and Jeri (they were used and he ruined their career)
#9 Bud Ford (great guy wasn't allowed to do his job)

Interesting that no one wants to post the truth yet they all know it. The jig is up. If you have talent you will land somewhere without him.

Is contempt of court a civil or criminal infraction?

My uneducated guess is that he's being jailed for contempt of court in a civil proceeding.

Could this be failure to pay support? Does he have kids he is court-ordered to pay support for? That is a civil matter... until FOC makes it a felony charge...

Wow, are you kidding me?!

The biggest piece of radio shit in the state does one of the most fucked up things, gets a muggy taken, and you have morals all of a sudden? Dude I'll call you out now- if you dog on people for less and if this guy does not deserve getting ripped on from you or anyone, who does?

Hope he gets his life on track? What the fuck? How many lifes has he ruined because he made many bad personel decisions based off his own personal feelings towards people. Screw him, and I hope he takes it in the ass in prison. He had an effect on many dear friends of mine.

Phenix -- I appreciate your comments.

You are right; Hanjob probably deserves everything he has coming to him. As the title of thread suggests, karma indeed is a bitch. To be perfectly clear, I never said he doesn't deserve to be ripped. He sure as fuck does!!!

I don't know how long you've been reading this site, but I've dogged Hanlon plenty over the years. So much so that a handful of frequent posters were even getting tired of it at one point.

I was thrilled when he lost his job at Citadel, and others who've lurked around this site for a while can vouch for me. After all, he almost single-handedly ruined my favorite station of all time, banished my favorite morning show host of all time to a piss of shit 1 kW AM signal (and lied about it beforehand), fired some of my favorite local air personalities of all time, made plenty of terrible programming decisions & programming hires, and oversaw one of the most poorly executed station launches I can remember in Hot-FM.

You might be right; my earlier post was probably too courteous. I guess I try not to cross the line between one's public persona and their personal life, and I generally do not consider myself to be a vengeful person.

One more comment on his mug shot: IMO, it almost looks as if he is under the influence of a substance. That being said, I have absolutely no idea if the guy has a history of substance abuse issues.

I would much rather see him learn a lesson and improve his conduct than remain a dickhead the rest of his life.

Matt Hanlon -- the Ebenezer Scrooge of Michigan radio. :hat

One last thing, I've been told his departure from Townsquare was a forced resignation.

You all need to build a giant bridge, and GET OVER IT. Seriously. We've all worked for some pricks in our lives. If you worked for Hanlon and he fired you, treated you wrong, whatever, then you've got some leeway to have a beef. But for the rest of us who never worked for the man, SO WHAT?
