Clear Channel Makes Cuts In A Number Of Markets

Word is filtering in from a growing number of CLEAR CHANNEL MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT radio markets of a lot of downsizing taking place.

ALL ACCESS contacted CLEAR CHANNEL, and VP/Marketing & Entertainment ANGEL ARISTONE confirmed the layoffs: "We are constantly evaluating our organization and structure to make sure we are as well positioned as possible to continue to lead in the evolving marketplace.

"We’ve been looking closely at our business to ensure that we are properly staffed and operating as efficiently as possible with the right balance of services and personnel to meet the needs of our listeners/consumers. Like every successful business, our strategy continues to evolve as we move forward as a company and that creates some new jobs, and unfortunately eliminates others.

"Some employees were effected, these are never easy decisions to make."

Looks like CC will need a new public affairs host...

Why couldn't Eric Chase and Jay Towers be the ones let go!

Cannot help but wonder if Cruz (VT'd via WIHT in Washington, D.C.) will be a permanent fixture on 955's weekday schedule.

The fact WDFN is still on the air with substantial local programming is a miracle in & of itself given how dismal the station's ratings are.

If you're talking about Diane Cross, nothing. That's just what she called herself on WDFN. I think she did voicetracking on WNIC at one point as well, to go along with the mandatory public affairs show.

Now if Jay Towers or his buddy Eric Chase lost their jobs, that would be funny.

Towers (for some odd reason) is the golden boy of radio. he will never lose his job.

I already miss Gov at DFN, his crosstalk with Shep made this show my first choice on the morning commute. I still listen to Shep and really enjoy the show but it will be a while before Shep gets the rappore with whoever is with him.

Gov was the reason I occasionally listened to Shep. With him gone, I now have zero reason to tune in to WDFN at all. Sports radio is so bad now I now have to listen to either ESPN 1090 which is all national or 850 out of Cleveland. I may flip on WTKA from time to time.

there won't be any "rappore" with a producer anytime soon. They're going with a rotation or part timers.

what we don't see enough of, is the ineptness of all the glorified "suits" being properly rewarded and shown the door...can someone tell me exactly what value these people bring to the industry? other than enriching themselves with money they rightfully didn't earn....
