Yes, he is terrible. Heaven forbid the kid try something different and have some personality. Oh, the horror! Seriously, I'd take him over the old stuffy weatherman we have here in PHX any day of the week, although you're right about the rap references (might be a bit too Urban for Eastern Michigan).

The only thing terrible about that video is the mic levels. Hello, master control? Anybody home?

Except isn't his name Tom Murphy? "The Soup" posted this clip on their Facebook page, so he's getting some national basic cable attention as well.

Once he can hone his delivery, he could be Jim Kosek v2.0...

Some people on this board criticize the cookie-cutter approach to broadcasting. This guy's different, a little rough, maybe, but I find him entertaining. I'm sure he has the sense to do this only when the weather isn't threatening.

Being a funny weatherman worked pretty well for Sonny Elliot. Maybe this guy can follow the same path and do well for himself. I wish him well.

Since I grew up in the area, I enjoyed putting this article together. http://wcrz.com/alpena-weatherman-gets-hip-with-forecast-calls-lower-michigan-dirty-south-video/ Talked to Tom in order to get a couple of quotes or insights, and he was extremely pleasant and humble. He's only 24, and strikes me as someone who will do well for himself.

Well done story George! Didn't Don Melvoin do weather on 29 when it first went on? If not full time, I think he did it part time and had his own funny slant on the weather. Makes the weather and the weather person memorable.
