The VS Network is rebranding itself as the NBC Sports Network. Do you think this rise its standing as the ESPN also ran that shows hockey? (I don't think it will.) I wonder if they're still going to show Bull Riding? (don't ask how they get the bulls to buck.)

Why not? At least as NBC Sports, it has better name recognition. As Versus, alot of people were wondering just what the hell Versus was.

If I were NBC / Comcast, I would push extremely hard to strip broadcast rights to the NBA and MLB from Turner once the existing contracts are up. I would also look to televise additional NCAA basketball and football contests as soon as possible.

Last night's prime time viewing? A college hockey game with about 1,000 fans in attendance between Dartmouth and an obscure school near Albany, NY known as "RPI".

The name doesn't matter. It's all about the programming. Few viewers in 40 of the 50 states care about NHL hockey, and for the most part, only left-wing loons and foreigners could give a crap about Major League Soccer.

As a sidenote...Best way to round-up illegal immigrants quickly? Send INS Agents to a Major Legaue Soccer game!

RPI - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institure, Troy NY, (About 30 miles from Albany.) It's a somewhat noted engineering school, probally on par with Michigan Tech, (go Huskies)

Former Red Wing center, Adam Oates came out of RPI.

Seeing RPI being described as obscure is laughable. Obviously, you're not a college hockey fan.

Costas Tonight is a better idea than Wake-up with Al on the Weather Channel.

Pick 100 people at random. I bet 90 - 95 have never heard of the school.
I do watch college hockey occasionally if the contest involves Michigan.

Nationally speaking, English Premier League soccer probably has a larger following than NCAA Division I men's hockey.

At this point, Sage, I'm just glad it's not "Wake up with Full Force Nature" on TWC. Now, I'm just waiting for them to start running Storage Wars or Pawn Stars on there.

The studio programming on TWC has become so pathetically rotten, that I actually don't mind when it's preempted anymore!
