The proposed specs call for only 99 watts (instead of the previous 250 watts), there is a fairly significant but narrow null in the direction of Howell, and there is a deep & wide null to the due south to protect a proposed translator in Riverview filed by EMF.

If the facilities perform as specified, interference should be minimal. If they perform out-of-spec (as the 104.7 translator seemed to do), then Martz is going to have the owner of WHMI on his ass.

It's a shame Radio One wasn't smart enough to put Smooth Jazz on its 99.9 FM translator (or 102.7, for that matter) full-time.

a good location i can think of for a 93.5 Translator that wouldnt cause Interference Is Probably near where the present WHTD Transmitter, Or McGregor In Essex County, Where CIMX, CIDR, and I Think CKUE-1 is In, but anything west of I-75 would not work, but Riverview might work too, Maybe a translator at 101.5 In Royal oak township would work too without interference to 101.5 In toledo

Hey, Martz.. if you're reading this... install a heavy null to the northwest to protect WHMI-FM. You'll have minimal problems, compared to WIOT-FM's co-channel interference.

Make sure you also have a null to the south, to protect WRQN in Toledo, and to the northeast, to protect CBCL in London -- they all also broadcast on 93.5.

Canadian stations have no signal protection in the US.

Perhaps not, but there still is the international coordination treaty (NARBA) that Canada and the USA signed in 1941 to prevent interference between each others' radio and TV signals. Sure, *low-power and Class-A* signals are not protected, but full-powered signals are.

Canadian signals have no-zero-zip-nada protection in the US. Same for US signals in Canada.

Havent we been saying 93.5 on this board since he went on the friggin air???? With the right antenna placement and signal path he can eleviate any interference to WHMI or RQN esp. with only 99watts.

I just laugh at that this was talked about months ago,I guess Martz should read this board more often and listen to the so called experts on this site and he would have avoided an FCC violation and the debacle with IOT.

The treaty means A Translator for 93.9 where a nearby canadian station already is In USA as long as it is Directional Away From Canada and Is Low Power, Just Like if you applied for a license For 100.3 In Essex county, it would have to face away from the United states and be low Power.

The null to the south is very similar to the 104.7 application, at least on paper.

I still say there will be interference if he builds this 93.5 app to spec, and he'll be forced off yet again. I wonder if he could have made it with 93.7, since CIDR has zip protection over here. 92.7 is still the best option, as long as there is a null towards Windsor and Leamington.


101.5 from RO Township is a terrible choice, because WRVF's protected contour ends only a few miles south of WIOT's. There's no way that would work.
