if this happens.... could Blair end up doing AM drive on K100?

Quote:
Blair Garner Wakes Up Da Big Apple

Although nothing has been officially confirmed by CUMULUS -- BLAIR GARNER, currently the host of PREMIERE’S syndicated "AFTER MIDNITE," will take on mornings at CUMULUS Country WNSH (94.7 NASH-FM)/NEW YORK. The show will be based out of NASHVILLE.

That offers GARNER immediate access to all of the biggest Country music stars -- most of whom live just a short drive away from his studios.

And, as the "NASH FM" brand spreads to other markets, one could easily speculate that GARNER will host mornings in those markets as well.

How this will affect GARNER's role with PREMIERE is yet to be determined. More details ... soon.

As cheap as the Dickeys are, I doubt that they would flush Shores & Steele down the crapper - they still have a very devoted following here - it would be like the old farts protesting at WKRP when they dropped elevator music - not a pretty sight.

I don't know about Harvey but Gary isn't far from retirement. And with no Gary... does Harvey get AM drive? Or ... will it be syndicated? Allegedly those two salaries are pretty high, esp for a market like Toledo.

It gave them 14 years at the top; but that is doing a little fade the past year.

At. This point, The Dickey's would flush their own mother down the toilet, if it meant they'd save a dime. Remember, these guys aren't ruthless anymore, they're simple mean and hateful, to the very people who got them to what they are today. Not to mention, the horrible reputation this group now has in the industry. Most people would rather work at A fast food joint making minimum wage than work for the new evil empire.

They have no business owning radio stations. They are research guys. That's it. It's like taking someone who knows only the research business, and giving them the keys to the Wall Street and saying good luck. Do you really know how many careers these brothers have ended because of their own stupidity? An entire industry is dying and the Dickey's are nothing more than the grim reaper himself.

So, in my honest opinion, everyone is expendable except for Lewis Jr and other brother John.

Agree or disagree?

Yes, everyone is expendable at some point. Your ROI better be high but even then everyone gets their day. Unless, you're able to go out of your own accord. I believe The Dickey's would afford Gary and/or Harvey that dignity.

Bill Manders was a couple of years from retiring, yet had THE hightest cume at lunchtime, yet he was shown the door after 30 years with not so much as a farewell show; so good point; Shores and Steele could be gone by the 1st of July with a non-compete so they couldn't even work at The Wolf, or CKY (if they'd want to).

Bill Manders was great. Good guy. But, I'll play Devil's Advocate. He did a truncated midday show, not the standard 5 hour 10a-3p. And was well paid for it. "Fat" had to be trimmed and it was middays. Unceremoniously let go? Yes.

I don't see S&S calling it quits, yet. I also don't forsee Cumulus whacking S&S for Garner. As long as rating and revenue are ok S&S are ok. But, when one retires (soon?) then Garner gets AM drive on WKKO.

Then again, Cumulus may want to brand Garner all along the 'Nash network" and in doing so sell advertising on national basis for the show. So.. who knows?

Well, Cumulus already tapped Kix Brooks for a syndicated overnight show. This may be the start of such a 'network', but likely along the lines of a CC "Premium Choice" scheme.

As bad as the Dickeys are, merging with a bankrupt Citadel IMO effectively turned Cumulus into a "too big to fail" company. In a few years, it will be as absolutely toxic and worthless as CC is right now (CC is literally a millstone pinned on Bain Capital and Thomas E. Lee's necks).
