Why would SPDy drop a show that probably cost them next to nothing to run?

Yeah it doesn't make much sense unless someone at the station felt like splurging more on something else to fill up time.

It's because Mr.Wilson wants to push his own little agenda on Toledo. It's a shame that this is the best Toledo can do for a talk station? I hope the competition is taking notice because it's time WSPD gets a competitor, really getting sick of the ego over on there. That new show is awful, talk about back benchers.

WTOD could not hack it because of being a daytimer and a spotty signal at best. maybe it's time to put The Ticket on the FM only and flip 1470am. Better yet flip one of the FM's to News/talk.

Yeah, really. What's the point of carrying the same show that can already be heard on a 50 kW omni-directional blowtorch that is in Toledo's backyard? (The only duplicative programming that makes sense, in my view, is Rush.)

Question, lets just say Cumulus decided to launch a station to compete with WSPD. Since Hannity and Levin's shows are carried by Cumulus radio, could Cumulus buy out Hannity's Contract on WSPD and move his show to a differant station?

I just don't anybody at Cumlus Toledo with 'creative juices' to do 'jack' with any of their signals; that would include talk on FM, using HD-2 or moving around formats. Nobody has the gonads to make those decisions for the Dickey's native home market. Maybe Detroit will 'absorb' Toledo and strange things will happen, like a Doug-FM on a Toledo Cumulus stick (OTA, translator or HD-2). Who knows?

Still no action on a nice new antenna farm for 1470 AM out off Angola Road...years and years later.
My guess is that it won't be until somebody gets maimed by one of the 4 towers falling over onto a car on Pickle Road that Cumulus will ever spend $5 to make their new SW Toledo antenna farm a reality.

Cumulus did compete with WSPD for years on 1560, and failed. Until the 300-lb gorilla of talk radio (Rush) goes away, anything else Cumulus does to compete with them is moot. Including FM.

As for the antenna farm, why would Cumulus, ESPECIALLY Cumulus, invest in a dying medium? If the towers fall over or the transmitter breaks, that's the end for 1470. Just like every other Toledo AM signal except WSPD.

TOD failed because it was a daytimer, shitty signal, and it was sold. I think it's time Wilson and his ego some competition!

Very interesting: wonder if Wilson has the power to pull off el-Rushbo from WSPD? That would be hu-ge! Sound like his ego is as big as Rush's - and Wilson did NOT make the top 100 talkers.

If Wilson does go crazy and pull his last 2 big talkers, wonder what'll go on in it's place?

And I resent his comments about Toledo residents being a bunch of retards - we have some very intelligent people here - the solar companies are proof of that, tons of engineers, and some easily trained hard working factory people.

I wish I studied up on that myself.

If Rush got Yanked then my guess would be Cumulus would very quickly launch "Super talk 1470"
