Check out the WKLT web page. The "Omelette & Finster Morning Show" tab, normally in the upper left corner of the page ... gone! Check out DJ Profiles. Where's Finster's profile?

What's goin' on? Inquiring minds want to know.

They changed the program to Omelette and Friends...

If this isn't a hoax (which has been known to happen) then perhaps this is the next step towards going directly after the Chamber crowd audience. Finster seemed to do well attracting the lower brow crowd. Omelette could shift things to be more white collar with the help of Rick Coates and a well spoken female talent.

Option B; rates are about as high as they can go at this point, perhaps they are cost cutting by replacing him with cheaper side kicks.

I have been thinking about how much they have invested in this franchise, and I tend to agree with you Norm. He's probably costing them 50K tops, and the risk of loss is not worth the cost savings. However, there are some high profile people wishing him good luck on Facebook, and others are asking to see the certified letter. Firing someone while on vacation used to be the industry standard way to do it. Good Hoax if is it one.

Further Sage I don't think anyone makes more than they are worth or else they wouldn't pay them that much in first place.

I wonder if northradiotruth jinxed the program. Was Finster a DJ prior to this gig?

I am reading his Facebook page, he is handling this pretty well.

"He's probably costing them 50K tops, and the risk of loss is not worth the cost savings."

There is no one in that building, except for one of the Grumpy Old Men, making 50k...Not Terri Ray, Not Omelette, no one. When sales are down, or Northern needs extra cash to buy things, they shed talent to save/retain cash. Simple as that. First hand knowledge.

Wonder if they are getting a new Giant Red Radio, or automation system.

Me too, Mark. If this isn't killing the goose that laid the golden eggs, then I don't know what is.

See the pattern?

First, the PD of The Fox / You-FM decides to "retire," "move on," whatever.
Now, one of KLT's morning stars gets laid off.

Wouldn't surprise me if more departures are forthcoming...

The advertising climate in Northern Michigan sucks ass. I strongly suspect a lot of station owners up north are in the red, especially on a cash flow after debt service basis.

The good news for KLT: who the hell is going to threaten them? A heavily automated, flimsy-signaled Bear with Bob & Tom? Puh-leeeese....B&T are way past their expiration date. Bob-FM with its puny 3,000 watts? Don't think so.

Seems to me a simple SWOT analysis would suggest KLT is sitting pretty given the current competitive landscape of the market, and will be able to withstand overhead reductions quite easily. Even if some disenchanted listeners were to give Free Beer & Hot Wings a try, chances are they won't stick around for Real Rock's music-driven dayparts.

It's no secret that those stations have been on the selling block for a while. So you get cash flow up by building a power product like O&F, selling the crap out of it, then slashing expenses. A few good quarters of this, and the asking price is better justified. They seem to be pretty strong with the rate and the spot load these days.

I would suspect that Charlie is there to do precisely this. It's how things are sold. Look at the success Wilkes has in almost every deal he does. I had a chance to see him in action.
