Thanks for the insight, Tim. I have no reason to doubt any of that is false, but if only half of it is true...wow. From what I've read here, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy made it his life's mission to buy Midwest for the sole purpose of firing you. I say that only half-jokingly. Vindictive a-holes are a dime a dozen in this business, but this guy seems to take it to a whole new level.

Long time reader, first time poster. As time goes on and the memories of working in Lansing fade and the players change I find myself checking this board less and less. However, after reading Tim's post, I second what Master Shake said. It has to be one of the best, most insightful reads into Lansing radio I've ever seen written here.

The major regret that I have from my 11 months in Lansing is not getting to know Tim and Mark better. I got to know Tim a little bit from his work with Celebration and Mark from the water drive he did for Katrina with all the radio stations. (I believe we all worked for Dennis Mockler at one point in our careers too.) My 11 months at WVIC was a rough go--from day 1 till the end and I never really got out of my shell there.

Anyway, I thought the post was great and wanted to say so.

Good to see you on here, Rob. You and I are former co-workers in Lansing at the strangest place I've ever worked in my life. Leaving WVIC was the best decision I've ever made in my career, and I don't really care if this post outs me. I never could get my head wrapped around the management culture at that group. I made my share of mistakes there, learned from them, and have happily progressed in my career. 11 months was all I could take, too. Had much more fun working part-time over at MikeFM on weekends before leaving Michigan for a few years. Glad to be back now, though!

I worked briefly...over the course of 2 yrs in the Lansing market...one of many in my career...and always felt there was far too much patronage going on...some very public...most very private. Never crossed paths with this guy...but I did deal with a few mentioned in Tim's post. Even after working 11yrs with the "ego masters" in Detroit...can't say I've heard of anyone as bad as Hanlon, from the way you all describe him. Cheers to you who endured it...and if there was ever any doubt that karma existed...that should be laid to rest.
