Yes, jingles should definitely be brought back. While we're at it, let's bring back cart machines and reel-to-reel. (idiots) Times change. You either need to keep up or get out. That's not just a 'radio thing', it's a real life thing.

In Detroit, there are a number of stations that still use jingles. Some are incredibly successful, such as 97-1 The Ticket, 99.5 WYCD and 96.3 WDVD.

Closer to home, B93 and Star 105.7 have used jingles for as long as I can remember. I think a good jingle package can enhance a station's on-air sound & make it sound more professional.

On the lakeshore, 92.1 WGHN in Grand Haven also uses a jingle.

I find most jingles fit the station well, but I have to say that whenever I hear 97.1's in Detroit, I think "why the heck are they using a female-dominated jingle for a male-dominated radio station???" Now, they don't need to go the other way with a deep-bass voice talent screaming things, but I've always thought 97.1's jingle was mis-cast, so to speak.

WVFM 106.5 has a jingle too and WFGR has a crappy cheesy one

does the river still has the female voice that says "WTRV Walker-Grand Rapids"

B93 and star are my favorites in GR, 104.3 WOMC is my favorite jingle here in detroit, i remember CKSY had one too.

I'm glad WVFM changed to Jingles, it really lighted up station more.
The river has a guy that does VO work. And once in a while has a few jingles.

B93 used to have really cool sounding jingles before they moved to "Michigan's country" they still use their "sykes" Jingles, which SUCK. But when they had "new country and your all time favorites" from real world, they sounded awesome.
105.7 has my favorite jingles around still. I liked their jingles better when they were "today's hits and yesterdays favorites" instead of "your listen at work station"

Which kinda erks me, if they are "your listen at work station" and the river is "grand rapids listen at work station"
What about the people who DONT work, or the people who cant listen at work, it kinda makes it feel like you are only welcome to listen to that station if you are working. But that is just me. Kinda when Joe Knight does his show on 95.7 he says "thanks for listening in on your way home from work" What if I"m not on my way home from work yet, or not even working.
Ok I've ranted enough :hat

First off, The river hasn't had the Female voice thing in forever. When is the last time you listened to the station? Do you even know who's on the station these days?

What do you mean WFGR has a "Crappy Cheese one"? One jingle? I'm pretty sure that package (more than one jingle) they are using was a very common one on hit stations back in the 80's, but the name escapes me. Personally, I think the WFGR jingles are some of the best in town. B93's arent as good as they used to be, not sure the current package, but the previous one was much better. I liked Hot Fm's at one point too.

When is the last time WOOD-AM had jingles? Anyone know?

In the early 1990s at LAV we came across some of the jingles Leslie Gore (ask your parents) did for the old WLAV-AM. They were all tagged with her singing - "the fun capital of the Furniture City"!

WFGR indeed has a comprehensive jingle package. They use "Turbo-Z," which was developed for Z100 in New York around 1990, I believe.

WFGR's jingle package is outstanding. I used to think the same thing of WHNN's, until Cumulus changed it. Now some of the jingles are longer than the songs (maybe not, but it's close...). Frankly, I am not impressed with the drawn-out jingles... I think in this day and age, if using jingles, make them shotgun jingles. In and out... even jock shouts... make it quick and effective...

I don't remember Leslie Gore being used by PAMS of Dallas for their jingles, but know that the very talented voice of Trella Hart was used on several the PAMS jingle series aired on WLAV AM (1340).
